I posted this in the food section too but i thought i might get more responses here. I have a 5mo old toy poodle. I've been feeding her Purina Puppy Chow because that's what the breeder was feeding her. But i read where it wasn't good quality food so i switched to Natural Choice Ultra Puppy or something like that. But i had so much of the other food and didn't want to waste it and my money so i just combined the dog foods. But now it seems like her stool is softer than normal. A little more soft than it should be i think. Would it be the food? Or maybe mixing the foods together?

Anytime you change the diet you are likely to see a change in the stool. Give her system some time to adjust.

If you change foods again, do it gradually. Add a little of the new food to the old. Increase the amount of the new food with each feeding until you have completly made the change-over.

If your puppy has the runs for more than 2 days give your vet a call.

I have 4mnth old pomeranians and I feed them the natural choice puppy food because that is what they had been started on when I got them. Sometimes one of my poms stool is soft and the strange thing is, he will go to the bathroom and have normal stool and I'll think he's done going to the bathroom and he will go some more and the stool will be soft. So maybe it's the natural choice food. This only happens to one of the pups, so I'm not sure.

Actually combining the food is what you should do. You can eventually switch all the way over. I don't know anything about your new food, so I don't know if it could cause runny stools or not.:)
