I am looking for a breeder recommendation for the Scottsdale, Arizona area. We are considering a few different breeds. Boston Terrier, French Bulldog, Bulldog or Labrador. Or could someone recommend a good resource for finding a good breeder? Thanks for any help.

Is there a reason you are looking to go through a breeder? There are SO many great dogs looking for homes (puppies, too! ) in shelters. .. Also, there are rescues all over the country that cater to specific breeds..all purebreds have a rescue and many are willing to transport to adoptors! Also www.petfinder.com is a awesome site and you can type in the exact breed you want and distance from your location to see what rescues/shelters have for thoses breeds..just a thought. Good luck!

Another way to find a rescue that is breed specific is to do a google search on the web by typing in simply the breed and rescue (example BostonTerrier Rescues) and that will pop up all that apply from around the country. If there are none locally to you, they would be able to assist you to find something closer maybe..:D

Check your local Boston/Frenchie/ Bulldog/Labrador club..or one of the main clubs (like the bulldog club of america, ect.) they should be able to connect you with a reputable breeder..please dont buy "paper puppies" as most are NOT from reputable breeders..here are a few sites to check out that will help you figure out how to find a GOOD breeder:

I am a strong advocate of shelters and highly suggest that you look into that. The other thing I wanted to mention was that you should do some research on the breeds you are interested in to see which one will fit best with you and your family. Every breed you mentioned is VERY different from one another. Just make sure that you know what you are getting into so we don't have any more animals being put into shelters!

Or could someone recommend a good resource for finding a good breeder? Thanks for any help. That is a very large variety of very different type dogs. I'd suggest you look at the AKC and UKC websites at breed descriptions and nowrrow it down more before seriously looking. You can also find out on those sites where there are shows and performance events to look at each breed and get more info from owners

What kind of Bull dog an English or American... big difference between those two?

There are also many purebreed rescues that have both pups and adults if you make a choice to try rescue instead. Shelters and pet finder are also another way to go. It really depends on what you are looking for...Can ypu post more info

I also have threads and posts up on what to look for in a reputible breeder if you do a quick search of the forums. Hope that helps

Thanks for some of those tips everyone. Appreciate it. I should explain that most of our pets now are shelter or rescued pets. We are animal lovers and are familiar with different breed types and needs. However, we recently decided that getting a new dog would not be fair to one of our dogs (a shelter dog). So for now, our family is full!!!
