there are alot of factors which can lead to a dead fish.
your right that a 2 gallon is too small for 2 mollies, which sounds like the water quality was poor due to overstocked tank.
mollies are brackish water fish, so salt they can handle, so it would be a good idea to add alittle more.
for poor water quality, a water change is important about 10 % since it is a small tank.
it would be good to give use more info:
water parameters-ph,ammonia,nitrites,nitrates.(if you dont have a testing kit, i would get one)
temp,
history about the tank, did u cycle, etc...

i am gonna get a bigger tank but is there any way to get rid of nitrite i tested the water and it came up as high nitrite levels. but all the other stuff was good.and the temp is about 77.

ok, you are right directly in the middle of your cycle, the ONLY way for the nitrIts to go down, is to finish the cycle, once they go down, you will see nitrAtes go up, thats when you begin doing small waterchnges about once a week, at this time, you have a stable aquarium :)
your molly may or may not make it, but dont restart the tank, it will only make htings worse, the temp is fine, just keep it a little darker to keep the stress of the fish down, and feed minumly, because the chances of the fish eating anyway is slim, its going through a hard time, but mollys can be hardy little guys, so dont loose hope yet :)

i think it's doing better it almost went back in a reguler swimming position but he just could'nt. but i got medicen for it it had a bactereal infection.. i think it might make it cause it's swimming a LOT more than 2 days ago. it still wont eat is there anything i can do about that? or just wait and see when he gets a lil better...i got my old ten gallon tank and set it up should i leave my mollie in the small tank while it's sick or move it to the big one now???

it would be better if you cycle the 10 gallon first, most pet stores sell Cycle and it should speed up the process:)

i woke up this morning and my fish was just swimming around like it normaly would!!it did'nt even look tired or sick or anything. 2 days ago i decided to put it in the bigger tank i put cycle in. also this morning i woke up and the water was cloudy is that normal?
and by the way would it be a good idea to get more fish or would the tank be overstocked?
a verry happy sticky102.

you might want t odo a WC if the wate is cloudy, and dont add anymore fish untill the larger tank is stable, even a 10 gallon can be small, but its better.
Once you do start to add new fish, start with one at a time if you can, but no more than 3 because the benificial bacteria "eat" ammonia, and make nitrite, and so on and so fourth and if there is too much ammonia for them to eat, then the tank becomes poisoned, this is called a "mini cycle" it happens in only a few days, but it can be lethal to some fish
