Toothache?

I have a ten year old chihuahua/fice dog. The past couple of days she's been really mopey. She has colitis, so I thought it was that maybe. Today I was noticing her teeth, she has really bad teeth and I'm just wondering if maybe one of them is infected. She hasn't eaten much, she'll take a couple of bites and then turns away. She also is constantly sticking her tongue out like she's licking the air.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think you should take her to the vet.

It could absolutely be her teeth. Please get her to the vet. It could also be something else.

In the meantime, try soaking her food in some warm water to make it softer. The fact that she is trying to eat means that she is hungry.

Just wanted to say thanks and to give an update. She's doing better, she's eating again and not licking the air. She's not as mopey either. I'm keeping an eye on her.
