I rescued a female that had nine (that's right 9!) pups and they are now eating on their own. I want to have the mother spayed before she goes to her new adopted home. Does anyone know how long I have to wait for her milk to dry?

I have no idea, but wanted to say Kudos to you for rescuing this homeless mom. Just give your vet a call and ask the receptionist there -- I am sure they would know. If you have any pictures of mom and pups we would love to see them.

You can add some parsley to her food, it will help dry up her milk. I used dried parsley and gave her about a teaspoon in each meal. My mom dog was bitten by a snake when the pups were 6 weeks old and it was instant weaning, as they couldn't have the steroids given to her to combat the venom or risk getting any leftover venom in them. She was really full of milk, and by adding the parsley, her milk dried up within about a week. sunka43
