Did you get Lucky when he was a baby? I got Suzie when he was a baby and they fit in the palm of your hand.

Hi Kathryn. I have a gp-just got her. Her name is Miss peaches but I call her peach pit as she is so tiny.LOL. I have had 4 previous piggies: Choo-choo gumdrop, Cerdo (pork in Spanish), MC guinea, an Petunia nipper. They were all Abyssinian c/s except MC. She was a long hair. I feed my gp's timmothy hay, good grade pellet mix, apples, carrots, cucumbers, celery and lots of greens. Some grass too. She really likes corn husks and silk. I didn't know until recently that they need a lot of vitamin C. The pellet mixes usually have enough but an orange is good to give to them a few times a week. Papaya and kiwi fruit has lots of C too and they usually love them.
I just love gp's with a passion. They kill me with their cuteness!

Here are some links you should check out...

Do you have them housed together? Is the male neutered?
What type of cage do you have? Store bought cages are way to small for even one guinea pig. I hope that you check out www.guineapigcages.com
Here is my cage to give you an example, This is the right size for just 2 pigs.

Also, they should get unlimited Timothy Hay. Veggies such as lettuce, bell peppers, carrots. And a good quality pellet such as Oxbow or KMs. Any pellet you buy in a petstore is usually worthless, they are made out of alfalfa which is not good for an adult pig. How old are your pigs? If they are under 6 months they should be getting alfalfa hay as well as timothy hay.

We did have them together but we had to seperate. We bouht a little cage and then took a big fold up tabel and made it into a huge cage. The littler pig sits in the little cage and the fat pig is in the big cage.

Guinea pigs should always have fresh water, pellets that are timothy based like Oxbow which you can get from pet stores usually. They need to have hay at all times which should be timothy. My pig gets that plus for a treat usually alfalfa or orchard grass both from oxbow. Plus he gets veggies at least once a day if not twice. He prefers cuccumbers, corn on the cob, spinach (in mininum amounts cause it contains to much calcium which can cause bladder stones), green leafy veggies (no regular lettace as it contains to much water), dandelions and such. He doesn't much care for fruit but some good fruits are apples with out the core, oranges, grapes (but not to many as it has tons of sugar), kiwi, stawberries
You should feed about 1 cup per 1 lb for a guinea pig of fruits or veggies a day. Also make sure you have adequete space for your piggie to run around. I have a huge cage that is 4 foot long for one pig and he loves it. He also gets to run around the house every so often too.

Great advice guys. I know it is for Kathryn but I am taking heed as well. Wanted to share-I made a great movable barrier for Peaches today. I used lawn edging. They usually come with a round tube that connects the two ends together and it makes a perfect circle how ever big you want it. And it is light so you can move it around. I had her on the bed with it today and she ran around like a little nut. It is also inexpensive. I would think you could make a nice cage out of the stuff also.
i have i piggy named gip its pig spelt backwards he lives outside with the rabbit they are best friends im considering bringing them inside but i dont know as we are renting and only the lorakeet is alowed to be in the kitchen we are keeping the peach face in secret
amber23 what a great idea for an inside cage my mum has those plastic box things i will have to get them off her to build a cage for the boys iside

HI all
I have 2 guinea pigs named Oreo and Henry. They are both males and are both 2 months old.and are brothers. We have built them a 3 story mansion with great ramps to the next levels. I am trying to train them to use Yesturdays News kitty litter on the bottom level, the middle level is their sleeping area and the top level is their kitchen. They are still young and rambunctious and love to run up and around the levels squeeling and popcorning along the way! Some day we may expand the cage, but for now it suits our space and their age and their energy levels! I also let them have plenty of outdoor grass time and floor time with the kids wooden blocks making a safe play area for them. Glad to join in the conversation
hi all!

This cage suits my boys quite happily. Some of the other sites that discuss cage sizes are a bit opinionated and are not realistic for people who have cramped living spaces or thin tall houses lol...my cage fits in our largest room- the front hallway! And LOOK the cats love it too~

whoops cant get the pic to be small enough to upload
its 51 kg and site only takes 50:confused:
but it is one grid wide and 3 grids long and 3 grids tall giving it approximatly 9 square feet. THey seem to enjoy going from level to level! Maybe when they are older they may not be interested in the levels - but for now, they are using them, and they can get away from eachother if they want to by going to another level or hidey.

Are you just saying that because you were banned from Guineapigcages.com. LOL
I think you need to do whats best for your piggies, not for you. Big cages are not unrealistic. If you don't have room, you shouldn't have the pet. Thats my opinion for ALL animals.

Interesting that you would say. I dont ever get banned from places, but because my cage is not "up to their standards" and I asked questions they banned me (but only temperarily - they unbanned me shortly after they relized they banned me unjustly...snobby group though! I'd say a person who is going to treat their animals with love and keep them clean are better off having the pets than the humane society. At least I don't house dogs in my limited living space. A guinea pig is a perfect pet for someone who doesnt have a large amount of space for their family - yet have lots of room in their hearts for love and attention to the little cuties. They get lots of floor time and have a MUCH bigger cage than anyone else I know in real life that has ever had a guinea pig !! Most people still house guinea pigs in store bought cages or of similar size. At least my guys are given more space than any shelter or pet store or breeder etc....I took the information from Guineapigcages and used what I found helpful and applicable to me....Too bad the moderators are too stuck up to be polite to those who ask about variation. My 3 level mansion is good for now,
anyhow...Did I say I love my piggies lol..they are such great pets!

i have one guinea pig and his name is wilson. we got him from the pet store when he was little. we werent sure how old he was though so i just made up a b'day for him. He has black, white and brown patches and he has a crazy personality. He is also very skittish like when you make a sudden movement or a loud noise he gets a fright and runs to a different spot.
