Chris, a really good website to look for info on is www.kingsnake.com, they have great care sheets and FAQs.
Just a warning though, their forum members tend to be knowledgeable but really rude. They've got that holier-than-thou thing going on.

I own one right now and it is 6 years old theres not really that many tips to them just that they eat about 12 crickets a week and need acess at clean water all the time. these pets take very little work so have fun. Also if you get one it is better to have them in pairs they are a lot happier with a compainion

Alright, Anoles arent really the best beginner pet, The reason alot of people say they are is because their cheep. But they do require UVB and thrive better in a group in a large enclosure(and are much more interesting and display to each other as well). They also need not only bugs but greens since their omnivorous. Also all anoles are wild caught. If you did want a reptile id suggest a leopards gecko maybe?,What kind of lizards are you interested in? lookwise, temperament wise, care wise etc.. Leo's are great beginner lizards. And its really hard to find wild caught leos these days since their bred so much in captivity. They also dont require uvb, can be housed comfterably in a 15 gallon tank, most of them are very calm if you handle them alot and are very friendly. And you just have to feed them around 20 mealworms every day/2days with the proper supplementation.Also.... Their always smiling at you! ^.^

lol I can never resist those smiling faces :)
I also suggest www.saltwaterreptiles.com and www.reptilescanada.com for good forums. saltwaterreptiles is great since there is none of that holyer than thou stuff there :).

Water lizzard? Get a green water dragon, its like a iguana but doesnt get as big =\ annoles arent pure water lizzards, they are more of moisture.
