just wondering if anyone can be of some help to me.i'm having some trouble training my new female shihtzu.lshe is only ten weeks and i was told by the vet that i had to paper train her for now being that she is too young to be walked outside due to the fact that she has not recieved all her shots yet.only problem is i have no idea how to paper train a puppy and i seem to be failing miserably at it.i have tried keeping her in a kennel until she look as if she is going to make and then putting her on the paper.i have tried the firm "no!" when i see her messing and then putting her on the paper.i have tried just about everything i can think of.any of you guys have some suggestions?:)

Hows it going with the training?. I've never paper trained before, I always train to go outside so I'm not much help on this one. Good luck :)

I have a girlfriend with a relatively new pug pup. He was "puppy pad" trained to some extent when she got him. The breeder had the pups enclosed in a smallish area that was totally covered with the absorbant puppy pads in the beginning, and like after the first week, she padded only 3/4 of it, and then after another week she padded only 1/2...you get the picture. They became accustomed to using the absorbant surface to "do it" on, and then that's what they prefered.

One sentence of warning though...it is then very hard to keep them from peeing on ANYTHING absorbant, like carpet, your son's winter coat, your cozy couch throw.

I guess I've never heard that pups can't go outside until their shots are complete, but then I didn't get Oliver until he was 12 weeks, and his were done already.

Hope this helps!
