Today I came home to my loving sweet Bullwinkle(parakeet) on the floor of his cage barely able to stand on his own and breathing very rapidly. I was horrified I didn't want to lose him. I haven't had him that long but he holds a special place in my heart. I love him so much. I rushed him to the vet and the vet told me that he had swallowed a bead from his mirror toy in his cage. The vet tried for about 30 minutes to remove the bead but he couldn't so I held Bullwinkle in my hands and just stroked him till he took his last breath. I am so heartbroken I don't know what to do. Bullwinkle is the first bird that I have really come to love and enjoy him and all his tricks. He will be very sadly missed and never replaced. I love you Bullwinkle.

Oh my gosh...I am so sorry that this has happened to your precious baby:( . I guess some of those toys are more hazardous than we think! What kind of toy was it? I have a Parrakeet to and I really need to check her cage.
God bless you as you get through this traumatic event. You have my deepest sympathy that comes from the heart. Sending hugs and prayers your way.

the toy was a small mirror with two strands of beads on it that he could move back and forth, the beds are only held by a small wire and he broke that wire.
