THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO POST PICS

FIRST WAY

Attachments:
Upon replying or starting a new thread, look for "manage attachments" under the "Additional Options" section below. Click on it and a window will pop up. It shows a line (red and green) to tell you how much space you have for attachments. (Signing up to be a PetLovers Supporter will allow more space for this option.) Red shows how much you've used and green is how much you have available for future postings.

Click "browse", look for the computer file you have the picture you want to post in. Click on the picture, click open which will put the pic info/identity into the browse box and then click on "upload" and allow time for it to load. You will be able to tell when it is done as it will show in "current attachments" under the red and green line. Click on "close window", your attachment info will show just above the "manage attachment" button. Go to bottom & hit "submit new thread". You will not see the picture until you submit the thread and you might have to re size the pic if it is too large as it can only be a certain size. So go back and re-size if required. Attachment pics can be posted in any thread on the board.

SECOND WAY

Host Site Pics:
There are many different "host" sites on the internet and basically you post your picture to the sight and then upload the picture from there unto PetLovers. The are many sites that offer this hosting for free -- be sure to read first.

Sites may differ on how to upload pictures. I usually hightlight the URL info and then right click over the picture and hit copy. Then return to PL site and click on the little mountion post card in the icon bar right above the thread you are posting to. A window will pop up and you right click on that window and click on paste. The URL you copied from your host site will appear in the window. Click OK. This puts your pic info on the PetLover's thread. You can then type out anything you want to say below or above the picture you are posting. When finished you would submit your thread. Again the picture will not show until you submit the thread. "Hosted pictures" will automatically appear only in the Picture Forum on PetLovers -- if "hosted pictures" are posted in any other forum they will appear as a link that must be clicked on in order to see the picture.

Add'l Suggestions: You might want to print out these directions to refer to when doing this for the first time.

If you have any trouble -- please feel free to ask questions. I have typed this out to the best of my memory and hope they are accurate and clear.

OK - lets see some pictures.

Dear dlaura...
Thank you for the instructions about posting pics. My pic is too large. How do I make it smaller?
Thanks!

If you use photobucket.com to host your pictures and follow directions from there photobucket will re-size pictures for you. Would be glad to help you if I could, but I was never able to master sizing pictures myself. I'm sorry.

dlaura,

I had my photos e-mailed from my dad's phone. I have tried it seems like a million times to enlarge them. I CAN'T DO IT!

Can it be done?

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
MaMa G.

Editing to add:
I see you never mastered it...

Hi Gypsi,

In addition to the features Pikapet.com –a must check-out fun pet site for those who doesn't know it- already has, they just started on having Forums for all their pet-lover users to share information and thoughts about different topics that concerns us all pet owners. I came across this site a while ago and have seen its development ever since and believe it to be a top quality, clean-cut, fun community to our furry ones.
Starting out with the pet contests in different categories that allow you to win cool pet-related prizes from their sponsors, then they started nurturing the site adding cool videos and great article links. A couple of months ago a dog trainer joined the team and this month with the help of cat veterinarian they provide users with insightful answers to help out members about behavioral, health and other kind of issues in the care of their beloved pets.
So I invite you you all to check this great site at www.pikapet.com and start participating in this growing community.

What's your pet's name Gypsi? We can be Pals there!!

Does anyone know how to make pictures smaller so that they can be uploaded?

Instead of shrinking them, make an account on www.photobucket.com and upload them there. Use the links provided to post your pics on this site! :)

This is my sweet little Tandy. 8 year old maltipoo. She brings a smile to everyone she meets. Not a bad bone in her body. We adore each other. She loves to swing LOL

Hi again, Tandy!
Your little doggy is sweet and funny. And I did post a pictire of mine too. Finally!;) Don't know why but first I seemed to get a wrong window with URL only and then I read help in this thread and it did help me. I had to press Ctrl key to prevent pop-up blocker. Such a pain this blocker!
Was surely nice to meet you, Tandy!:) :)

Nice to meet you too. Hopefully, we will share many more posts.

But I found an easy way to bring photos here. Go to the original that you want to bring here, click edit, then copy. Come back here and right click your mouse and paste. There is the photo.

I just figured out how to edit my piccys on my computer to post the photo here and it worked, so here's what I did in the hopes it will help others too :)

1. I have something called ACDsee, so when my selection of photos come up on my computer,(after I've clicked the 'Attach' icon when starting a new portrait thread here), I just right-click on the preferred photo, and then click on 'View with ACDSee'.

2. Next, I click on 'Modify', and then 'Resize'.
(A preview of the resize picture shows up )

3. Then I adjusted the width in the Pixels/MegaPixels section (lower or higher, whichever you prefer).
I had to adjust it quite low to fit the 50 KB limit.

4. Then click on 'Done', and it will show a save bar downloading.

5. Next, you HAVE to click the 'X' or 'Close' on the top, right-hand side of the page, and it will then ask you if you want to 'Save the Changes', click 'Yes'.

6. Then a pop-up will appear asking you what you'd like to name this new file of the photo that you've just Saved.
Type in your choice and click save.
(remember what you've called it to find later).

7. Now you're ready to attach it, when you click the attach icon, and browse your computer.
Just click on the new file name that you just made, then open, then upload.

Oh ya, and once it's saved, you can either just pass your mouse over the photo, or you can right-click on the photo to check what the properties are, in order to see what the size is, so you know if you can make it bigger or have to make it smaller in order to post it.

Hope this helps :)

Hey Rob,
Perhaps your picture is too large??
Try re-sizing it to a really smaller version, and see it that
helps :)

Its been a while since I've been to the forum. I came here when I was really down (my buddy Duke - Choc. Lab had died). Since then I have two new Choc. Labs : Kandy & Kane. Its easy to call them "Kandy-Kane" !!! Lol. They aren't related to one another though. I'll likely breed them once in the future and keep a pup.

Here's a pic of them.

Kane loves to jump on top of stuff. I built this doghouse 14 years ago.
Roof is gone and I replaced it as you will see in the next pic.

Really thats more of a question for the manufacturer of your scanner. You might want to consult a manual or call them to find out why your scanner makes copies instead of scans.
