Hi!

I am an author and in the novel I am working on at the moment, I want to have one of the "characters" be a talking bird.

I have a few questions and if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

1. Which birds talk the best?

2. Are there letters or words a bird can not say?

3. Do birds mourn the passing of an owner?

4. Are they protective of their owners to the extent that they can be?

Thank you!!!

Gloria Marlow

Hi Gloria, what an interesting novel! I will try to help with the best of my knowledge which is not much to brag on but here goes.1) I believe the best talking bird is an African Grey. They say the Congos talk the best. 2) I am not sure about anything a bird can not say correctly because all the birds I have ever heard talk, will talk as plainly as the person they hear the most.
3) I would say yes to that question. Birds can get very bonded to their owner and I think that they mourn as much as a we do when losing them.
4)Certain birds I have heard can be, but I really do not know this answer well enough to say.
Thanks for joining our forum to gather information for your book. Do you have any pets yourself? Good luck on your book!

Gloria, a good example of a well-spoken bird that truly mourned the passing of its owner was Winston Churchill's parrot. I believe it was a Congo African Grey.

Researching that bird, in my opinion, would provide you with a wealth of knowledge on your topic.
