I am wondering what size cages you use for GCCs. If you could post pictures along with suggestions I would much appreciate it. Thanks, Diane

Louies cage opens on the top. There is a handle that locks right in the middle up there and when you undo it each half goes down and stops when it is even with the top of the cage is before the dome starts. Confused yet????:D
We have had him in 2 different cages since I got him and he does better with this one so he has been here 2 years. For those who don't know....Louie is my Green Cheek I got 2 years last February. So he is technicaly 2.5 years old and quite the bird LOL...he does not like the flash on the camera so he tries to hide when he sees mom has that nasty thing
His cage measures 34"tall x22"wide x16"front to back (depth) this is without his stand. The stand is 26" tall with bottom shelf which gives the cage an overall 60" tall.

PS. In case anyone wonders about the marking all over the edge of the door facing...that is our grandkids growing chart and the other side is just as bad LOL

Thanks Judy for sharing those pictures with me! Basically I am looking to increase the height for Einstein's new cage to allow for more hanging toys which he can swing and hang from. I haven't seen any cages similar to Louie's in my searching around. Does Louie chew on the bars of his cage at all? Einstein does and the powder coating has come off in spots and this is one of my biggest reason for wanting another cage, besides increasing the size.
P.S. I couldn't see any of the notches on the door frame at all. LOL

There is a drop down door on the front and it is well hidden. I wanted to point out to whoever sees this...in this 2nd picture....look real close behind his red toy and you will see his little green body there! He is standing on the wood perch and blends in really well...lol
I got this cage from one of the bird fairs that Terri and I went to. It was a fall sale and I think I paid about $80.00 for it. I love it. It rolls with the slightest pressure and has a nice sturdy stand. It is powder coated but no where on it is showing any wear. Louie does not chew on the cage bars but he does use them with his beak for climbing. He loves anything he can swing on and that set up right behind his cage he plays with daily. That was the one I fixed up with what we had here because he looked very bored and was hardly playing at all. The greyish looking thing on the right corner is just a thing I hung there I think it was supposed to be a bow on a gift but he loves it. It looks like a pom pom and I don't know what it is made of but it's not paper, it's a crepe type feeling yet does not come apart. He has a yellow Easter bunny I got him at the $$ store, the eyes and mouth are just embroidery stitches so it is very safe. I got Spanky a purple one. Oliver has a blue puppy dog and a brown rabbit. LOL
Anyone else have any good ideas on cages??????

I'm not owned by a GCC, but a SC.. LOL! I just wanted to ask.. for those with dome cages, do they drive you nuts to get toys to stay on it correctly? I always like the way they look but never get them, thinking the toys all slide down the bars?! Am I wrong?! Any tips?
I love your birdies cage! And the stuffed animal in there, made me laugh.. Was really "Stuffed" in there.. haha.. Never thought to use that as a toy! :) Mimi is inlove with her cuddly buddy the fleece pieces that they can sit next to. She used to scream a LOT.. now she snuggles with it.. So cute.. If she doesn't want to come out, and I go in to get her.. she will just put her head back and fluff her feathers, and just rub her head up on her buddy.. I'm like.. Ok.. your busy.. and leave her.. haha.. She's such a good birdy.. I love her to pieces.. Anyway.. Has anyone seen the fleece "huts"?? Anyone use them? Have them? etc? Worth it?
Thanks,
Jenny

Just saw that there is a Triangle one in the cage! LOL! Is that a fleece thing?? Have you seend the ones that look kinda like birdhouses with only a ohle to get in and out of? Or a nestbox looking type thing outta fleece that hands? That's what I'm curious about.
Thanks,
Jenny:)

Jenny, welcome to the conversation!!!! Judy & I were starting to think there was something wrong that no one was chatting with us here. LOL
Now do you have two birds, as your user name reads Ella's mom and you also make mention of Mimi loving her fleece buddy .........and forgive me but what type of parrot is a SC? There are so many different species can't keep up with them all.
As far as the dome top cages (I have one for Angel our Goffins) I don't have too much trouble keeping toys hung as I usually just put them right where a horizontal & vertical bar cross each other and then they can't slide around.
Our GCC has an improvised happy hut. I got one of those really thick fleece type head bands and attached the top part to the top of the cage and then at the bottom I pushed two perches thru at each end to keep the bottom open. Then I placed one of those fleece buddy's inside of it and Einstein will sleep huddled inside on top of the fleece buddy with the head band going around him to insure extra warmth.
Nice chatting with you -- hope to see you again here or around the forums!

I think Butter's cage is 23x23x30. A friend of my mom's gave me the cage when they got a new cage for their 2 tiels.
Dome cages aren't too bad for toy hanging. Just make sure you get one with lots of horizontal bars. I actually really like the cage you were thinking about. They sell it at a bird store close to my house. I was thinking of getting it a while back, mostly because I had Peanut too. She unfortunately passed away a couple months back, so I thought the cage they had was big enough now that there is only one cheek in it. I took the play gym off the top of it because he likes to hang upside down.
Here's a pic of him in his cage. He's right between Hayley and Simba. You can see Simba on the right and the bottom of Hayley's butt on the left lol.

Jaylene, I'm so sorry to hear that Peanut passed away! Was it there an accident or was she just sick?
Neat cages! Hopefully this weekend I will get the cage in from the garage and all set up for Einstein. Sure hope he likes it!

Thanks for the responses.. DLaura.. Thank you for making me feel welcomed. I wrote an introduction on the other page, and people replied to another post but not to my introduction.. I thought ok, either people don't like me, or they found it way too long to read and too much blabber they didn't bother responding.. I'm glad it was the latter.. heheheh.. I started to get a complex.. LOL :)
Ok.. good to hear about the dome cages.. so nice to know..Thanks again for sharing!
About the name.. I only have Mimi, right now.. Would like to maybe get another bird.. maybe something bigger.. And Mimi is a SC Sun Conure.. :)

Uhhhh of course..... Sun Conure!!!! Duh, don't mind me, I should of known that but it just wasn't popping into my mind at the time. LOL
Don't worry about not getting a lot of replies -- sometimes people don't pop in as often or maybe just pop in to read real quick but don't have time to reply at the moment but will later. You just never know. So glad that it didn't discourage you from returning though.

Jaylene, the cage you have between the two bigger ones is just like the cage that Oliver has. Something peculiar going on here too. Oliver keeps making his way over to Lakia's cage and hangs on the bars from the outside. I'm, thinking that maybe Oliver's hormones are raging about now.
