View Full Version : Identification help needed please!
This little guy flew onto my front porch today and we took him in. He's perfectly tame and loves to be around people. The only this is we have no idea what type of parrot he is. Any help in identifing him would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you :confused

Hi! I'm glad you found this site! That's a Nanday Conure that you found. Have you tried to find the owner yet? I'd suggest putting up fliers all over the place (don't put any band numbers or identifying characteristics though) and contact vet clinics and petstores around you. I hope you can find the owners, because he's obviously very loved and I'm sure they miss him very much! If you have any questions, we'll be glad to help you out!
Thanks for the quick reply! This is the first parrot we found but we found 2 parakeets. Unfortunatly the people around here cant keep hold for thier pets and whats worse they don't look for them after they're gone. If the owner can't be found he has a good home here!

Oh, that's so sad that people don't care to try to find their pets!
:( That's great though that the Nanday will have a good home if his owners can't be found! Keep us updated on how everything goes! :)

Thats wonderful, that he came to you. He must know you are a good family. Thats so weired that you find birds? I have never found a bird. I always look. At this market store I go to,they lost an african grey,a few weeks ago. I feel so bad because its still so very cold here. Hope they found him.

I've seen parakeets flying at a baseball game I've been to. I'm glad the Nanday found a good home.

I wish I could fined a bird. welcome to the site ;)
Thanks for the welcomes! :D
This is the strangest bird. He doesn't want to be seperated from his new cage. We open the door & take the top of the cage off and he'll maybe venture on the side but if you lift him off more then a foot he flies back on. It seems like he's afraid he's going to get lost again and is scared to get too far from his new home.

Well, it just takes time. At least he likes his cage though! Have you thought about clipping his wings?
He's on his way this afternoon to get his wings clipped that way we can try and bond a little better. Let's just hope it's not that traumatic! :( Wish him luck! ;)

Oh, I wouldn't worry about it being too traumatic for him. Most birds get over it quickly, and from what you've said about him so far, I think he'll be one of them! Hope all goes well!
He's back and happier then before. The long ride through the country seemed to cheer him up! The clipping was a big success with no discomfort what so ever. Right now he's running around watching TV, we have one happy camper here.
