Urgent Plea for Help !

Not sure if you have heard on the news about the
dekalb county animal shelter in Decatur Georgia. Well
it is horrible they kill more dogs there than any
other shelter !! It is a killing plant. Some dogs only
get one day of adoption time. They killed a bulldog
puppy yesterday morning that had a rescuer coming to get it
in the afternoon. Yes they knew they were coming the rescuers
are PISSED & heart broken. Anyways there is a petition that was
created by the dog rescue I am associated with trying
to get the management changed and animals adopted.
Please sign it and pass it to everyone , I have
contacted Keith Whitney at 11 news in Atlanta today
and they plan on getting it on the air so the more
signatures the better.

I signed the petition. I have a question for anyone who might know the answer. When a dog goes to any SPCA and it is a pure bred breed, are they not to call the rescue for that breed? If it meant saving an animals life I would think they would do it. For instance, the bulldog puppy gabuttercup posted about that got distroyed, had they called the bulldog rescue he possibly could have been saved. As it was he was supposedly going to be adopted later that same day. What happened, was there lack of communication?????? I never worked at a SPCA, (don't think I could handle it) so not sure how they do things. And I realize they get over flooded with animals. But to euth a puppy when it was going to be adopted, I just don't get it. So if anyone can shed some light on this I would appreciate it.....Thank you.

Well this is not an spca. It is an animal control shelter. They do not call anyone regarding a dog that has come in unless it has a collar or chip. There is only one officer at this place that cares however one cannot do everything. The others are killing machines. They treat animals like garbage. How do they decide who gets killed today ? Well it is up to the ones who clean the cages, if they have an animal that is dirty or they dont like they will just say oh it tried to bite of it growled at me and bam it is put down.
Most of the animals are not even shown to the public. THey have a small adoption room where they put small animals like pekes shih tzus purebreds etc.

I am part of a large group of people who are always trying to place these dogs. Calling, emailing rescues and sometimes pulling the dogs ourselfs. Even with placing holds like the little bulldog puppy had it basically means nothing. They dont care. This is not the first time this has happened.
This county has been running like this for a while before someone noticed.
Just to give you an idea of what kind of people these are, back in 99 they sold animals that were not adopted to a local college for experiments. No longer thank God.

I passed it along to other forums. One person emailed me back saying they live about 20mins from the place and it's terrible. Hopefully with enough signatures, something will be done.
