I strongly suggest you read this before you ever consider breeding love birds. There are thousands of homeless and unwanted lovebirds already. Adopt a lovebird and stay off the breeding bandwagon.

Even though the are lots of unwanted birds, cats, dogs, etc out there I WILL give evey animal/bird the upmost respect and I will take care of them very well!!! and ill make sure they would go to a happy and healthy home!!

I am sitting here after just reading your above posts shaking/holding my head -- really! Like Jo I would like to see those homeless birds adopted rather then you purchasing from a pet store. However, since your first thread was questioning about how to breed keets, I am sure you are going to breed some type of bird.
So, I would like to request that you first prepare yourself with 1.)knowledge of what to do if you hen should become egg bound 2) knowledge of what your hen will lay her eggs in 3.) knowledge of how to properly hand feed in the event the parents for whatever reason do not feed their young 4.) Find people who will provide good loving homes for these youngsters you are going to breed before bringing them into the world.
I need to explain that we aren't coming down on you - although it may seem that way. There have just been so, so many before you who visit this board because they got a pair of birds, and they think they may have bred, but aren't even sure. What does the mating ritual look like, my female is very quiet and looks in pain .........could it be an egg or what, my female laid an egg ....is she done? (can you answer that ?) It is frustrating that just because you have purchased a pair that you feel you are educated enough to breed them.
For every baby that you find a home for that is one less potential home for a bird that might have been adopted. I truly understand your fascination with breeding these intelligient creatures, because I would love to myself. A lot of us here would! However, because we have seen what has happened with too many kittens/cats & puppies/dogs being bred because it is a good experience for Johnny ...............and now millions of kittens/cats, puppies& dogs are being euthanized every day because of what a good experience it was for all the past Johnny's of the world................. and now instead of these animals being held in shelters awaiting an adoptive home they are being killed, YES KILLED, because there are just too many and no room for them to be held in the shelters.
I am sure you would give a few of the clutch a good home and find good homes for the others ..............but by doing this you are contributing to the over population we already have and taking homes from those that are already here. BTW this is why nobody (or very few) answered your first thread here with your questions about breeding the keets.
Oh yes, one more thing, when you go to the petstore to purchase your "pair" of lovebirds don't just assume that they aren't brother and sister and shouldn't be bred together. You need to be sure that you get birds that aren't in any way related. If you don't address this concern the clerk will just sell you whatever two you choose -- they just want to make the sale.
Again, don't take this personally, but please do sleep on it and really consider before you breed.

I did see the pictures and they are very cute. Thanks for listening to the "talk" and I am glad to hear you are going to wait a bit before getting your lovebirds. Hope your keets are doing well.
