I have a 3 month old Black Lab Puppy who is urinating in little trails all over the house! This just started about 3 days ago, and I don't know what to do! He is normally VERY good about going to the door when he needs to go out, and he is still doing that, but sometimes right when we bring him back in he urinates again while hes walking! We've tried letting him stay out longer, anticipate when he'll need to go out, but it seems like he just doesn't know he is doing it! He also seems to be drinking a huge amount of water, but the Vet said this was normal for a "growing puppy". I know they need a lot of water, but its getting ridiculous! Any help would be great!

Was he tested for possible bladder infection? If not, consider it.
If that's ok, then you will probably need to keep him more confined (pups do not like to * go* where they sleep and take him out very frequently until he outgrows it, maybe even every half hour. Even keep a *potty pad* available for emergencies. It is possible this baby just has little control over bladder at this point.

I agree, it sounds like maybe he might have a urinary infection.
I did have a Lab that used to get so excited that he would piddle everywhere. Does he do this when he gets excited?. Mine eventually grew out of it, but even when he was elderly, he would get so excited when my step son came to visit and would still piddle. He adored my step son :).. its something we just had to live with ;). Good luck.

I know that you posted this entry almost 2 years ago, now, but I was wondering if you could tell me if you ever found out what the issue was. I have a 4 1/2 month old mixed breed, and he has the same problem occasionally. Some days he will go hours without needing to go outside. And days like today, he's needed to go out every 15 minutes or more, unless he's sleeping. He walked around leaving piddle tracks, or will just come to whereever I am and end up peeing on the floor while he's trying to let me know he needs to go out. Had a hard time potty training him in the first place, but he's been doing VERY good the past couple of months, and now this. Did you find out what the problem was, and if so, did you find a way to help your puppy with this problem?
Thanks!

Has he seen your vet for this? Irregular urinating can be from an array of things, but I would rule out anything medical first. UTI's , bladder, liver, kidney problems, or even diabetes can cause frequent urinating, or irregular urinating. I hope you find out what is causing the problem. Please keep us updated on what you find out.

I agree with Magnum. By all means have him checked for any possible medical reasons for this first. Is your puppy a male? Just curious because I have not seen many females do this.
