Favorite Fish?

What happened to the thread about favorite fish? I found it interesting what others here liked.

My favorite fish is a marine fish (Eel) called the "Blue Ribbon Eel". As far as freshwater fish I love Oscars, as they are like dogs, wagging there tails to feed them.

oscars are ok, but a 75 gallon min tank is neede.d

OK, I guess it went a wrong direction.
Anyway, I like Marine Orbic Batfish (great personalities) and in FW I like Discus (for the colors and challenge), also Antibids and most others cichlids (again for personality)

do you mean anabantoids? or labyrith fishes?

i do not have a set favorite type, i love all fw fish, and like you i work daily with cichlids, and labyriths.

I like yellow tangs. Active, pretty, hardy,and easy to feed.

I love male betta fish. I have a few problems though. I have two cats & don't know if they've caused too much stress to the bettas I had before that passed away. Have considered getting another one but don't want it to die within two weeks. Should I try again or just give up?

probably not stress, water quatliy is bad.

how do you care for them?

Thanks, I'll do a water test next time. I feed them betta food, change the water every two weeks, keep them in a warm spot away from drafts. I'm not getting another fish 'til the first week of June. I hope all goes well this time. I'll pm you if I start having problems.

increase ur water changes to once a week, even if their is a filter.

In addition to above advice, make sure you declorinate your water first too, unless you live in a rural area with a well.

i love bettas, too. they were my first fish over 10 years ago, and over the years i must have had 10,000 bettas(given fry) good luck with your bettas.

CT Bettas are kool. I really like my pearlscale and silver angels too.

Yellow Labidochromis caeruleus (sp?) are nice too.

Ooooh and blue rams...
