Hey guys,
My grey has a year now and he still does not talk. When should I spect a word from him? He only mimics sounds like the microwave, telephone, car alarm and barks like a dog. I always leave the radio on when I leave the house. I also spent some time with him and always repeating the words to him. What else can I do? Wait few more months? Thanks

scuadron23,

Amber is right, some Greys never talk, though most do. Also, many Greys are very shy, and some that people think don't talk actually do, but only when no one is around. I would focus on spending quality time with your bird. If he feels safe and comfortable with you, he will be more likely to talk. Also, you can try imitating some of his noises. I do that with my Grey and he seems to like the game and trys to stump me...lol. If you do this for a while, he may decide he wants to imitate you too. Just give him some more time and interact as much as possible so that he likes communicating with you. Good luck.

It took my grey a bit over a year before he actually started using words. He mostly just mimiced noices he heard.
