I know an Orange Wing Amazon, he belongs to a very good friend of mine. He is vicious though. I am unable to touch him, as his owner always warns me he will snap my finger off.

His colors are truly beautiful, especially with the blue patch over the eyes. I met him when she brought him to work with her and he looked so innocent on his perch but I did heed the warning. She said he really did break her finger once. He was a rescue bird from a very poor living arrangement. She is working very hard trying to tame and socialize him. She is very knowledgeable on this subject and helps me with my birds. I am trying to get her to join this board, hopefully soon, because we can all learn from her.

Anyway, I do love the Orange Wings, they are special.

P.S. She is the one who brought me Marcel because she knew he needed a good home. "B" I hope you read this as you surf through this board. Please join us.

I've only known one amazon ever it might have been an Orange Wing(I can't remember I was only 1) and it was abused very badly.
I hope your friends amazon tames down and I hope they join the forum.

I hope your friend will join us! I feel sorry for the amazon, but that's great that he/she now has a good home wtih someone who knows alot about them. Has your friend read "My Parrot, My Friend"? I think that that would help alot because it has some great ideas on helping to tame and gain a parrot's trust and love.

Excellent picture. I have only known one amazon, his name is paco. He was one of the last birds that were wild caught and then imported. I used to work in a pet store and the owner of the bird boarded him there while he went to Florida for a week. He was very impressed when I picked Paco up without trouble, because there are very few people that he trusts. For that whole week I had Paco riding around the store on my shoulder.
