I will try my hardest to make a long story short, but I REALLY need some advice:

Alright. I currently live with my fiance and his baby sister, Andrea (she's 19 now.) We just moved in with each other in January. Now back in December she decided that she wanted her boyfriend (at the time, haha) to buy her a dog. She had her mind set on a "teacup" chihuahua. I wouldn't hear it! I couldn't believe she wanted someone to spend so much money on a dog, not to mention all the shots and initial costs she will have with the pup. Now I have experience in rescues, I currently am employed at a pet boutique and recently adopted a little puppy mill rescue. He has been a great dog, so I suggested that maybe we find her a little rescue dog. Well, we found one. A little female chocolate chihuahua, 10 years old, also from a puppy mill. I contacted the lady at the rescue and one of the first things out of my mouth was "Is she potty trained?" The lady told me yes, and being so gullible, we I okayed Andrea getting the dog. Trouble is, the dog is anything but potty trained. She pees EVERYWHERE. We have tried EVERYTHING. First we tried potty pads, but she always missed (she pees in a huge circle), then we tried bringing her out as often as possible, and most recently we have tried using diapers. She pees RIGHT through them. We have bought every kind of diaper imaginable, too (working at the boutique I have connections).

Now, my main problem is that we live in a new house, and her peeing has gotten so bad (2-3 times in the house daily), that the house smells like pee. It's unbearable. The worst part: her favorite room to pee in is my own. My room smells so bad, I can't take it. I don't know what to do! I love the little bugger, and so does Andrea, but I feel that the dog is just too old to learn! It's not only pee, but she poops around 5 times weekly in the house also. It's just so frustrating. My fiance hates the dog, and It's gotten to the point that I won't let the dog out when I come home anymore. I can't keep my eyes on her 24/7, and I shouldn't, she's not mine!

ANY ADVICE?! Thank you!

P.S. - Sorry this was so long!

Have you tried taking her to the vet? If not she could have a bladder/kidney infection. One of our dogs one day just all of the sudden started using the bathroom in the house. She couldn't make it to the door. A UTI will cause them to have a very strong smell and more than likely more ammonia type smell. If when you take the babe out side, you can smell it you need to take her immediately to the vet. A healthy dogs pee should be clear and yellowish...the more orangey/cloudy it is the more indication that the pooch is sick.

As for the smell...let me recommend to you "Pet Solutions" buy enough to douse the carpet in...when you find a spot treat and area 3 times the size of the spot then don't soak it up. Let it set overnight and dry on its own. You can use the stuff in carpet cleaners as well. Pet solutions and other cleaners like it have enzymes in them that are used to break down the proteins that cause the smell. It's worked wonders around our house. Merlin and Nyla's trainer was telling us a story in which they left for a 2 weeks and left someone in charge of their house and the person didn't let the dogs out in those two weeks. They used pet solutions on it and she said you can't tell today that it ever happened.

OH! and if you can find a spot finder that works you can use that to find the spots to clean them up.

I hope this helps.
its really late at night and my brain is just gone.
