I am so sad. He's had hyperthyroidism for awhile now and just went downhill really fast. It was really sad, he just laid down and meowed in this pitiful cry...I stayed with him as long as I could but had to put my 3 yr old to bed. By the time I got back to him, his eyes were glazed over and he was cold, stiff and not breathing anymore. I felt bad that I wasn't with him when he went...but I am happy that he wont suffer anymore. I spent most of the night crying and couldn't stop thinking about it at work today so I cried there too.

I'm so sorry for your loss. {{{}}} It is never easy to lose a pet. They're members of your family just like the people are. I've been down that road many times and it never gets any easier. But your friend will want you to go on and not mourn too much over him because he doesn't want to look down on you and see you sad. GLOW for you and your family.

So sorry about your kitty... I really don't think there's anything that hurts the same way as losing a pet... probably because they're the most selfless loving creatures on the planet? Anyway... Wishing you the best, and your 3 year old, too. And I'm thinking even though you weren't there right when your cat died, he very much knew you loved him. And my experience has been that most animals like to go off by themselves when they die... maybe they sense that we're sad and distressed, and feel it's their fault so they leave? I don't know... but I am sorry about your kitty.

I hope the vibes that everyone is sending your way in a much heartfelt manner will reach you. We all have seen or have experienced what you are going through and it is not an easy transition. God bless you.........

Robbierob, I lost a cat this past November. Although she was almost 18, she had hyperthyroidism for several years too. I had her on medication for those years also. She went downhill within 24 hours when her time came - fortunately I was able to get her to the vet and "send" her to Rainbow Bridge to delay any more suffering.

I am so very sorry for your loss. But ... he'll get a GRAND RECEPTION! AND ... be romping and playing with the best of them now!

I wish Id had the courage to have had him put to sleep....I feel horrible, like I prolonged his suffering.

you are feeling bad now because you lost your friend, pets are reziliant! They never complain! Unlike us humans who cry over everything, you have to believe if he were really suffering, he would let you know! He wanted to be here with you just as much as you wanted him. It was just time to go.

I just lost my beloved Millen Jan. 12 2006 its such a horrible pain and there's nothing u can take to ease your pain. But I found if you keep yourself and mind preoccupied it helps a little. I think about my sweet princess everyday.
May the lord bless you in your time of need. Hang in the although the pain of the loss will never go away but neither will the memories.

A wise man once said "You are Not dead until you Forgotten" and so we both know that ain't never gonna happen. Good Luck

I'm so sorry about your cat, I really am.
Two years ago I lost my girl Muffin. I had her for 16 years. It absolutely broke my heart. She was always an indoor cat, and as she aged and got very skiddish and thin - I didn't take her to the vet as much. I think she either had cancer or heart disease But.... I know I gave her a good loving home and I'm sure you did for your cat too. Take heart, it will get easier and you can smile with your memories.
Take Care
