i had 4 red belly pirhanas, and if you are looking to get some for showing off, they aren't really all the cracked up to be.
first off, most pirhanas are illegal in most states, as for fear of being released into the wild.
second pirhanas like to school, which means 6 +
third red belly pirhanas are not small fishes, as adults are 15-16 inches long, so a school of them needs a big tank.
again they are not for showing off, and should be left to people who really know what they are doing.

by not responding, it somes like you just want the fishes for giggles and fishes like this , that can really hurt you are not to used for giggles.
also these fish are not stick your hand in and its gone, red belly pirhanas are not like that, which most people think they are.

My brother had a piranha, But the one he had was very old and was in a huge tank. My brother would stick his hand in the tank and he could pet him on the side. But the only reason why he could do this is because the fish was really really old. he was about 14-15 inches long. When my brother feed him smaller fish he would get agressive. He did tell me a couple of times when he went to get something out of the tank or cleaning the tank he would get bit and this isnt like getting a little nip, this really does hurt. Have you seen there teeth. Doesnt it look like it would hurt.

you need to really think about what your doing before you get one? do you have the right SIZE tank for this fish? Can you take CARE of this fish? Do you have the money to take care of this fish?? Like I said you really need to think about it

again red belly prhanas dont do well alone, pirhanas are characoids and they are schooling fish.
if kept in a small tank, pirhanas often will attack eachother- hence most ill kept red bellys will only have one eye.
again do the math
red belly pirhanas are not small
large fish + a school = big tank. and big tanks are over 300 + usg
