It looks like Tank may have it. He is at the vet right now getting a urine culture so the vet can rule out infection. He has been having problems the past month and the vet is pretty certain it is IC because when we were giving regular anti inflammatory and pain relievers he was doing better, but she just wants to be certain there is nothing else going on with him.

Other then giving him the anti inflammatory and the pain relievers we have also started him on cosequin. The vet said if his urine comes back fine, she will send him home on a regime of the anti inflammatory every other day and see how it goes, because it is difficult to treat.

I did some research on the internet and it looks like some vets are treating cats with
Amitriptyline.

Just looking for some information from people here who have any experience with this.

Thanks!

Sorry I can't help you NiteRose, just wanted to extend my wishes that Tank makes a full and speedy recovery.

Me and Tank thank you Cat&Dog mom!

The urine culture was a no go, my poor baby was in too much pain for them to do a cysto, so we are going to start him back on the anti inflammatory until he is a bit more comfortable and take him back in for the culture. It is so frustrating at times that our fur kids can not tell us when and where they are in pain.

How is Tank? Did they get to take any urine yet?

They did get urine on Thursday, so hopefully by Monday we will have the results. Unfortunately he is still not doing so well, even on the anti inflammatory this time.

I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that he has a infection that was resistant to the first antibiotics they tried, and not IC.
