This Is My Dog Lennox, He Is The Dog I Rescued From The Local Shelter 3 Years Ago. He Was Going To Be Killed The Very Day I Took Him. He Is Covered In Scars From Being Fought, The Vet Said He Had Been Shot Up With Steroids, He Also Had Heartworms, That I Had Him Treated For. This Dog Is Great. I Brought Him To This House With Lots Of Other Dogs And Cats, He Has Never Attempted To Hurt Anybody Or Any Animal. For The First Year, If You Went To Rub Him, He Would Throw Himself On His Back And Stick A Paw Up In The Air Like You Were Going To Beat Him To Death, He Does Not Do That Anymore. He Does Still Think He Has To Pick Something Up To Give To People When They Come Over, He Will Offer A Dog Toy, A Shoe, A Newspaper, Whatever He Can Pick Up, This Is His Best Picture Because He Smiles Like That Alot Now. The Vet Has Said His Life Will Not Be As Long, Due To The Steroid Abuse, And Then The Damamge From Heartworms, But He Appears To Be Going Strong And He Is Estimated To Be About 5 Years Old Now. I Love This Dog!!!!!

The Shelter Said He Is Pitbull Bassett Hound Mix, He Was Originally Adopted From There As A Puppy, Obviously The Wrong People Adopted Him To Start With, Now He Is A Couch Potato, And Very Happy And This Is His Forever Home.

I Use Lennox As An Example For People To Go To Shelters And Get Pets, I Also Tell Them Not To Look At Just Puppies, Older Dogs Need Love To, And Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover, This Dog Would Not Have Been Chosen By Anyone But Me, The Guys At The Shelter Saw What I Saw Because They Had Already Extended His Life 3 Weeks Past Is Due To Die Date. I Am So Glad I Walked In There When They Opened That Morning, Because He Was Leaving This World That Day, What A Waste That Would Have Been!!!!! This Dog Is Great, Loving Loyal And Kind To All Other Animals, Even After The Abuse He Suffered.

I don;t think we are the ones who do the choosing, I think they find us. And you know what? all they really end up needing is a little time. They end up being the BEST companions ever.

I Agree Jojo, I Think He Found Me, You Would Have Had To See The Look In His Eyes That Day, I Will Never Forget It. It Was Like He Knew It Was Almost Over. The Guys At The Shelter Said When They Picked Him Up, They Never Thought From Looking At Him That He Could Be Adopted Out. The Scars Terrified Everyone. But Then After Observiing Him For A Few Days They Noticed He Showed No Aggression Toward Any Other Animals At The Shelter, Just Looked Like He Wanted To Be Left Alone, He Does Not Want To Be Left Alone, He Wanted To Lay On My Couch And Get Hugged And Kissed The Rest Of His Life. Oh He Was Also Real Cut From All The Steroids, Looked Like He Had Been Lifting Weights For Years. He Also Has Lost Some Of That, Actually A Little Chubby Now. Well Maybe A Little Fat.

Bless your heart ROCK!! Lennox looks like a loving baby! How sad to take such a wonderful life and abuse it so badly.:(

I just caught the tail end of a report about a Lab X that was saved from being euth'd at a shelter by a guy in the drug enforcement. He said it was the look in the dogs eyes that got to him. The dog had kennel cough and was emaciated real bad at the time. He was scheduled to be euth'd that day, but the guy couldn't let that happen. Now the dog looks awesome and so happy. He goes to work every day with the guy and is one of the top dogs in the field. They said his life span will be shortened from his previous abuse, but he loves his home, loves his job, and is one more spokes doggie for all the shelter dogs needing forever homes.

Lennox is one lucky pup to have found you ROCK! So many die unnoticed every day.:(

He looks like such a lover boy! He's gorgeous! Isn't it a shame that so many great dogs get looked over because people want puppies? I did go looking at the shelter for a puppy, but when I locked eyes with Lucy, I just couldn't get her off my mind! Somehow or other, I knew she was the one for me and the thoughts of getting a puppy were completely erased. She is such a great companion and all she wants is to be loved. She has both DH and I spoiled now. We can't sleep without her being right there between our feet, (she's really great at keeping my feet warm at night!) and we NEVER get a meal or a snack or anything without thinking about getting her something too! When we lay down at night, and she gets herself all settled in, she chooses one of us and looks us straight in the eye like she is saying "I love you", lays her nose down on our leg, sighs contentedly and goes to sleep. How could anybody NOT love that?

Awww, he's so cute - I've got tears in my eyes... I've said it before and I'll say it again- I'm partial to the submissive ones! I had a pit pup foster and every time another pit owner tried to adopt him their dog was aggressive towards him. He high-tailed it away from any fight. Its sad to think that these dogs get used as bait, many are such wonderful, kind, loving, trusting souls.

You've got a friend for life! I'm so glad you had the heart to take this guy!

It sounds like the shelter in your area is pretty tolerant breed-wise, that's really good! ( Basset hound? ROFL! I don't see it-sorry:o )

The Shelter Here Is Real Breed Tolerant, They Do Not Assume A Dog Is Just Bad, I Believe They Do There Best To Evaluate An Animal Before It Is Euthanized Or Adopted Out. A Friend Of Mine Recently Adopted Another Pit Out Of There, Not Quiet As Abused As Lennox, But Abused . This Is Also A Great Dog.

I don't see the bassett part is he short??? That is so great that he found his way into your home. Looks like acuddle bug to me. :)

Just curious... Why did the vet think the dog was on steriods... did they do some sort of bloodwork on him that showed it??

poor baby with battle scars ... they should put the former owners in jail:mad:

Patchopits, She Did Alot Of Bloodwork On Lennox, She Did Not Say If That Was How She Knew About Steroids. As For The Bassett Hound, He Does Have Short Legs And Big Feet, His Ears Are Way Longer Than A Full Pit, But Not As Long As A Bassett Hound, May Just Be Evrybody's Guess, It Does Not Matter To Me What He Is. He Is Beautiful Scars And All To Me, And He Is So Loving To Have Been Through Whatever He Went Through. I Believe He Had To Have Had A Good Home Somewhere To Start With, To Be As Smart As He Is.
