Ok guys we need prayers and lots of them.
I'm sorry I have to ask but I just can't lose another one!!!

Teeny is VERY sick. Her temp jumped up at 106.5, and her white blood
cell count was at 42,000. Which is extremely high the vet said.
Xrays show her chest cavity is full of fluid. Fluid not in her lungs
but in the chest itself. They wanna do a surgery on her to remove the
fluid but can't till they get her temp down and WBC back to normal.
We won't know anything for a couple of days. She was so awful when I
got her there. My regular vet sent her to this hosp. That has more
rescources to treat her with. She was having trouble breathing and
felt sooo doggone hot!! She couldn't even stand up for too long, her
little body was just limp!!! I am so scared.
They have started her on a very strong iv antibiotic and are giving
her nebulizer treatments to help her breath. I will keep you all
posted.

Oh and still not heard from the woman I got her from. But this new vet
is gonna call the original vet and ask about the breeder and what all
of her dogs have been treated for. Hope he helps.

I am sorry to hear this! I hope everything goes well. Have they said that maybe she has some sort of disease that could be causing this? Maybe her breed is prone to developing cardiomyopathy or something? Good luck with the vet and please keep us updated. Maybe this is just a one-time thing but if not hopefully it is something that can be controlled with medication.

your family and Teeny will be kept in my thoughts and prayers until I hear that she is doing better!

Not really saying much only that she is showing signs of bacteria in her little body.

So sorry to hear about Teeny.:( Have they run full tests on her heart? She has been dealing with a cough and other respiratory problems from what I remember. Sending prayers her way that she recovers soon.

Woo Hoo!!!! I just got off the phone with the Dr. She said Teeny did Excellent last night and this morning. Her exact words were " I feel WE are over the hump with her!!" I am so happy. She even is gonna let Teeny come home tonight, but I have to continue doing nebulizer treatments at home. I already have the nebulizer machine ordered and am gonna do some good cleaning and disinfecting while I can though. So will post more later!! I am doing the happy dance!!!!

I have finally heard from the breeder.
At first she didn't even remember me.Then she let me know in more than 1 email that Teeny wasn't sick until after I got her.
Even though she also stated that she had treated the WHOLE litter for conjestion when the pups were 6 wks old.
I informed her that Teeny got sick the very next day and I took her straight to the vet and have ALL paper work to prove every step I've made!! All she has to do is ask me for it.
I have yet to hear a response for that one.

I am so happy to hear Teeny made it over the hump and gets to come home! As for that breedewr...AARRRRGGGHHH! BYB all the way! Did you get any kind of health guarantee on Teeny? Not that this breeder would live up to it but just wondering.

Give Teeny hugs and kisses from me!

Teeny is home and doing well. She is a little trooper. She lays down in my lap and puts her little nose right up to the nebulizer like she knows it's there to help.

I also heard from the breeder, Of course we had an email war. She says Teeny being sick is all my fault, cuz she never was coughing BEFORE she left her place. She said she wouldn't reemberse me for vet bills but she would take Teeny back if that is what I wanted. First off I never asked her for ANY money. And I wouldn't give that woman any kind of animal, let alone my baby back. She actually told me she had 52 puppies on the ground right now. How terriable is that? And that she is mixed breeding, to get the new "designer" dogs. The Puggles to be exact. ERRRRRRRR

I am so glad Teeny is home and is doing much better!! Poor baby has had it rough, but she has a good mama taking care of her!!

52 pups................ What a evil person to be pumping out so many babies and creating hodge podge mixes on top of it!! Start spreading the word to every caring person you know that this person is a pathetic, money hungry abuser!! How many Teenys are out there worrying their family right now? How sad.

Tell me how, I will do what I can!! I know her name, her email and I have her site address, but the site only covers for the cavaliers she sells not the other dogs she has. Which is more than 100 She actually walked me around and showed me her dogs!! I even commented on how some of them needed to be groomed, she didn't reply.

It sounds like she has a puppy mill. Please take action by calling the local AC officers/[police dept in her area and make sure you follow up with this to help the other dogs and for the sake of any other sick pups that ay be on her property. This is so typical of a BYB. Please help to get her shut down or at east fined and cleaned up.

You may also want to give a tip to the local papers as they often run animal cruelty stories and may help look into it if she has as many dogs as you say

I'm so glad you pup is doing better , hopefully this will be the end of her problems. Hugs and prayers for you both

Poor puppies!! Sure does sound like a puppy mill.

And what nerve of her to have suggested to have her returned!!! As if you would, knowing how fragile Teeny's health has been.

I"m so happy for you Kat!!! I hope there are no long term effects from all of this trauma to her little body....((((Hugs to you all)))))

Teeny is doing great, She has slowed on the coughing ALOT!!! I think she has coughed twice since yesterday!! She is now laying in my lap and sleeping away. We have definately spoiled her since she came home. If I'm not holding her, daddy is. He is such a sucker. I can see she has him wrapped around her little paw!! She was sitting in the kitchen door dtaring at me and he picked her up and carried her to me, saying all along that the baby is sick and can't walk that far by herself. OH PUHLEASE!!!!!:D

She is doing great!! AlthoughI am seeing a little jealousy in Mini's face, I actually think I can see her curl her face up in disgust when she looks at Teeny. I hope she doesn't think I love one more than the other. I have made sure I make a fuss over Mini too and she gets a little bit of peanut butter at medicine time too. I had their beds laying next to each other awhile ago and heard a noise. Turned around and seen Mini draggin Teeny's bed away from hers, no I didn't get the camera in time to take a pic, dern it!!!!

Hi, Minismom-
Now that Teeny's on the mend, I have to ask: what did the conditions look like? Were there sick looking animals? Cages without roofs or protection from the elements? Dogs in too small crates? Extremely filthy conditions? Fleas, etc?

In Westchester, PA they recently seized something like 280 purebreds from a breeder last month! In Brunswick County, VA in October '05 they seized at least 28 purebred Saluki's. There are dozens of stories...

It was only possible because people were willing to report what they saw, and were willing to testify if necessary.

Its the conditions the animals are kept in that increase their risk of illness.

Take care of your new baby!

For The Dogs,
Actually The premises looked really good. Some dogs were in Kennels that were outside, but they had roofs on them and had places for the dogs to get out of the elements. They were on concrete flooring which had irragation levys in them.

The others were in kennels that were indoor/outdoor. They had a building they could get into by way of a doggie door. Also had the same irragation system in the floor. Big building was heated, and new puppies were under heat lamps.

The place itself was really clean, just some of the dogs with longer hair needed to be groomed and bathed.
That's why I don't know if I can get anything done about it, cause Her place was at least clean. And I didn't see any animal that looked sick to me. Even Teeny didn't look sick She didn't show any signs of it til the next day when she started coughing. All kennels were like dog runs they were side by side. She had no dogs in crates.

I was just wondering what part of MO you lived in. I have heard a lot of bad things about breeders near the Ozarks and KC.

I live near KC KS about an hour away.

I forgot that you were in Missouri Minismom. The puppy mill capital of America. I'm glad at least the conditions were okay for these dogs because I doubt anything would be done in Missouri even if they weren't.

So glad Teeny is on the mend and doing well! I hope she stays healthy from here on out. You have had your share of doggie illness these past few weeks huh? Maybe all is over with now and you and your dogs can enjoy each other instead of hanging out at the vet's. :)

hey Minismom glad to hear Teeny is doing good and being a good spoilt puppy. Your hubby is a keeper if he acts like that with the poochesl-mine does too. You are down by Cape Girardo? I call it Cape Garage door haha. My sis went to university there. Ever go to the Purple Crackle? Is it still around? I had fun in that little town. Used to visit her lots. I went to Mizzou. I miss Missouri. Everyone is nicer there.:) But I guess the animal protection laws are lame. Mo is backward in that area.
