Please help me to save the lives of my loving 10 month old puppies, Michael & Spot. They will be killed soon by the over zealous Snohomish County Animal Control. Michael and Spot were taken to the pound for a leash law violation. They won’t be released unless I pay an impoundment fee by November 28, 2003. If I don’t, they will not be returned home just killed! I’m worried sick. I just don’t have the funds to save their lives. After being laid off from the Electronics Industry, my family has been experiencing serious financial difficulties, to the extent of losing our home soon. I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m desperate. I don’t know what else to do now but depend on the kindness of other people. Please help me save the lives of my puppies, Michael & Spot. Any donations to help can be sent to: Paula Scheirman 15712 116th St. NE Arlington WA. 98223. Or you can e-mail me at: Spiritbridge@earthlink.net
Sincerely,
Paula Scheirman

Paula....
I live out in the country and not up to date on city laws and etc... The predictament you are in sounds horrible. How is this impoundment fee figured? Is it a fee for picking them up and boarding(food..water...etc...) How much is it? I'm disabled and do not work so there for I can not help you money but I would like to know how they came up with the fee and how can they keep pets away from their owners????????

Paula - Can you get your dogs into rescue in your area? Even if they aren't purebreds they can go into rescue. Try to find a rescue service and get them involved. They might be able to get them out of the animal control. Good luck.

Krazy4birds....Thank you for your interest and concern. The impoundment fees in my county are as follows. There is a $35 fee for picking them up and impoundment per dog. Then there is a $10 a day fee per dog for boarding. The initial impoundment fee is considered as a fine for the violation then the $10 a day is added until you pay the fine. You can not retrieve your pet until you pay the fine and the boarding fees. So the longer they are impounded the bigger the fine. After 30 days they are considered a unwanted nuisance animal and destroyed. I,ve been told that do to budget cuts the county can not afford to hold them any longer. Even if their owners want them back! You must pay the so called fines or else. Even dogs who are brought in to be adopted are put down after 30 days. I live in a rural area also but this leash law is applicable to the whole county. If you could pass on my cry for help to anyone who can help, it would be a god send their time is running out. I can't bare the thought of what will happen !

Cashnbecky,I have tryed my local pet rescue . but they are so overwhelmed at this time I've been told they have to be very selective about the animals they help. They can only save animals who are being abused or neglected at this time and they have no aggrement with the county for impounded animals anymore. The other ones I have contacted have not returned any of my messages.I'm so discouraged right now I hope you will understand this sarcastic remark, "I wonder if they consider death an abuse". If you know of any groups or agencies that might help please let me know.

This is so sad Paula... if you do get them back, what will happen if you lose your house?. Have you tried any rescues out of your area?. Many will help if they have room and can find transport. You dont have any friends or family to help you on this?. If I get a chance, I'll look for rescues that may be able to help, what breeds are they?... sending prayers your way....
