I just found this forum and it seems like a lot of fun. Talking about my feathered and furry babies is a favorite past time of mine. I have 5 dogs, 4 cats, 7 parrots, 2 ferrets, 1 hamster, 6 rats, 2 duprassi, 1 rabbit, 2 sugar gliders and a 19 year old son. Guess who eats the most? I am looking forward to checking in often.

Welcome! Glad you've found us all, I think you will enjoy it here! I am also especially interested to find out what species of parrots you have and all about them, as I have six of my own: three budgies, one peach-faced lovebird, one blue-crowned conure, and one green-cheeked conure! Also I have two cats, a uromastyx, a green lacerta, and a tiger salamander. You're so lucky to be able to share your home with so many "babies"! You'll have to tell us about your "duprassi" as I've never heard of those before... As to who eats the most...it's either your 19 yr. old son or, if any of them are like mine, one of your parrots! hehe I have no idea where they got the expression "you eat like a bird", lol.

Hi mzdolittle and welcome! :)
I want to come to your house and play!!!!!!. What a wonderful family you have. I'm so glad you found us too... you obviously belong on this board LOL. Can I take a guess and say your 19 yr old skin-kid eats the most??!!. LOL . When my step-son was 19 and living with us, I couldnt keep food in the house... I actually started hiding the animals from him LOLOL.
Cant wait to hear stories about all your kids and we love to see pics!!

What a wonderful welcome from you guys. I have 1 Pacific parrotlet, 1 quaker parakeet, 1 green cheek conure, 1 rainbow lory, 1 white face pearl cockatiel, 1 peach face lovebird, and 1 orange-wing amazon. My oldest cat will be 20 years old in May. The duprassi are sometimes called fat-tail gerbils. They are native to desert areas and have a fat hairless wrinkled tail. They store fat and other nutrients in their tails, similar to a camel. They have very stocky bodies and fur very similar to chinchillas. As a matter of fact, they take dust baths just like chinchillas.

MzDolittle.....is your pacific parrotlet overly agressive with your other birds? I heard they don't usually get along with other birds and tend to bite even birds larger than them. My son was very much interested in getting one, but we have changed our minds, and are looking into other species.
Thanks.
