My most beloved of all my animals, El Ferrito Bandito,or Bandit for short, passed away almost 1 year ago. I still have not recovered from the loss of my baby ferrett. Okay, he wasn't a baby when he died. He was 5 years old. He came to us as a wild ferrett that had ran into one of our customers' houses and ate his cat's toy and bit his girlfriend. We received the call to come and get "the rodent" and at first sight, I fell in love. He was the friskiest, cutest, most awesome loveable thing in the world! He wasn't much bigger than a six week old kitten. We took him into our home and our hearts. He did not know what a cage was until the birth of our daughter - and we decided he needed to be contained so he wouldn't accidentally bite her thinking she was a treat. He loved to play and to be held. He would bite anyone except me, he knew who his mommy was! He gave me kisses instead of biting me. He was super jealous of his "daddy". My husband awoke more than once to find he had a ferrett attached to some part of his body or another. Needless to say, he was a great pet. He loved all our other animals and outlasted almost all of them through the years we had him. He played with our dog Rambo by biting on Rambo's jaw and letting the dog swing his head from side to side. We called it flying ferrett. Sad to say, Rambo was dognapped that same year. Bandit lived to see 2 more dogs come and go and many more cats who were all stolen away by some crazy lady who thought she needed them more than we did. But, as for Bandit, I miss him very much and he will always have his place in my heart.
