It's official! I didn't even last a week as a foster mom. I am adopting Zoe and notified the owner today. Here is the kicker. She didn't even know who I was when I called. I repeated my name and reminded her I was the person who was fostering her Dane and she said "Oh....right." I told her I was keeping her so she did not have to continue to look for a home and got "Oh...great. Do you want me to come sign the papers?" I told her I would come to her house this week and get them signed. I do not want Zoe to see her. I was in a state of shock. How can you have a dog for 4 years and not even care? This woman was not looking for another home for this poor dog. Once Zoe was dumped here she was done with her. Oh well....at least Zoe is loved now and will have a great life from now on. Geeeez. I just cannot believe people sometimes.
Anyway....we LOVE Zoe! She has come so far in just 6 days it is amazing. No more trembling, flinching, accidents in the house, etc. She is learning how to be a Dane for the first time in her life and is on the road to recovery. She is seriously underweight which is hard to tell in her pics but I have her on a good regime now. She is eating elevated (the owner told me she would not eat elevated period) and is eating well. I have started her on supplements too. I am so happy she has come into our lives!! :D

Glad you stink at fostering......LMBO!! Zoe has an awesome home now and deserves every bit of it too! Who ever had her before did not deserve such a sweet baby, and to think she spent 4 years with Zoe and showed no attachment at all...... Bullwinkle is now king amongst his harem.....hahahahaha!

Just amazing that the lady could forget Zoe so quickly. Then again she has such a zoo in her home maybe she just doesn't notice. How very sad! Congrats to both you, Zoe, Bullwinkle & Rocky -- a welcome addition to the family. I am so excited for you all.

You can tell by the pics that she is a really nice Girl too!!
I would entertain another Dane, but Trinity runs this place, there would be a real dominance thing going on!!

Jo -
I think you're about as good at fostering as i would be! If I had an animal more than a day or two, i dont' know that i could give him or her up... i get VERY attached, and don't wanna learn how not to! Kudos for taking in Zoe and teaching her all about how a dog's life is SUPPOSED to be. It reminds me of our neighbor... she had a dane and a couple smaller mixed breeds... the little ones are fine, because they go in the house and when the neighbor's gone, they come in my house for treats. But shhh... don't tell :p . Actually, the neighbor's are fine with the treats, it's my landlord that wouldn't approve of visits. Shadow, the dane, used to just ADORE being hugged by my 6 foot tall hubby... she'd put her paws on his shoulders, her head under his chin, and slowly wag her tail and shut her eyes... they'd spend five minutes like that quite happily. Fortunately for the dane, my neighbor's cousin down in kentucky asked if she couldn't PLEASE have her, as she gets so lonely out on her ranch alone! So now shadow runs and runs and runs... we got to see pictures, and she looks like a whole new dog! Now, if only the other two could meet up with such a stroke of luck... Sadly, conditions aren't bad enough for the humane society to remove them. :( But i'm off the track here... what i mean is, danes are great and you are great for giving Zoe a loving, supportive forever home! I look forward to the day when we have our own home and can offer "foster care" for animals - although i fear that we'll end up with a zoo of our very own before the first month is up!
