Hi everyone. I am thinking about adopting a dog that has terminal cancer. Does anyone know what the approximate costs are for caring for a dog with cancer? Thanks for the advice.

First let me say you have one very big compassionate heart to take this on if you do go through with it.
Can you tell us more about the cancer he has? And how far in the stage he is.
Up front you know its terminal, so you are aware of the end result, but depending on how far along the cancer is you may still have plenty of time with him.
In my heart If it were me and if the cancer is far progressed, depending on the dogs age, I would consider Holistic care, not chemo, etc. Holistic care can range from massage therapy to accupuncture, just to keep the dog comfortable.
This has got to be a heavy decision to make. Bless your heart for considering taking him in.

The vet just found out she has cancer so I am waiting for more info. I would like to adopt a dog that nobody else wants...if that makes sense. I would not consider chemo, I have heard too many stories and that just doesn't seem fair to the dog. I guess I will wait to see what other info they have.

How sweet of you to take this dog on and give her happiness for what's left of her life. I completely understand why you would go for a dog that no one else wants. That is where my heart is too. Kudos to you!!! :D

Bless your heart Kelly! Getting people to adopt a healthy baby is very hard, but what you are considering is so awesome! I guess I would wait for the results from the vet and find out from them what the prognosis is. If you do decide to do this, please post some pics if you can. Thank you so much for being such a kind soul and considering this.
