Hi,
I have 2 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank. I know , I know they need to be in a bigger tank. well this week were going to get a 55 gallon tank and were going to put them in that.I have a comet and a Shubunkin goldfish. But my Shubunkin goldfish is missing scales and looks like he has red scratches near his tail. Also it looks like he was shedding skin and its a grey color. never seen it on him before. I keep up on water changes and they eat flaked food. However the comet is fine. he is not scales missing and he's healthy. they both are Im just hoping that this is temporialy. Until i get them into the 55 gallon. Is there anything I can do to make the Shubunkin goldfish stoping loseing scales ?????? And what is with the skin thing is he sick or have a parasite. help!!!! Thank you so much

this might help.....Scale Loss- If your fish are losing scales for no apparent reason (such as breeding) then it is commonly found to be caused from Myxosporidiosis. The only treatment for this is to keep doing water changes and get rid of the parasites. Symptoms: Fish gasping, pale gills.

depends on the tank? do u have anything in their that they can strach themselves with?

and again just to be a pain, goldfish will out grow a 50 gallon as well.

do not use any salt products in your tank while the fish is scaless.
