Hello! I am new here, and have a question. I have just acquired a litter of four kittens. I originally was going to keep just one and find homes for the rest. (They are rescued stray kittens). However, my husband has fallen in love with one of the male kittens and I have fallen for the other male kitten. (The other 2 kittens are female). I plan to keep the 2 male kittens and have both neutered as soon as they turn six months old. Do you think this will result in problems later on? If we keep 2 kittens, should I choose 2 of the opposite sex instead of 2 males? I would like to keep the 2 males but I am afraid they may fight after they reach maturity even if I have them neutered. I know unaltered males will fight until the dominate male chases the other male(s) away, but I didnt know if this was true with neutered males.

Since they will be raised together from a young age I don't think you will have a problem later down the road. I have 4 adult, neutered males (ages ranging from 2yrs - 7yrs)....none of which were raised together from kittenhood. I got each of them at different times and various ages and they all get along great...even clean each other and cuddle together.

Hi Diamond,

I've had two pairs of neutered male cats -- both litter mates -- at one time or another, and have never had any trouble with them fighting. The current pair (Gilbert and Sullivan) are absolutely best buddies, and love to play (sometimes a bit roughly) as well as cuddle and groom each other. So keep the kittens you've fallen in love with, and don't worry!

i as well have 4 male neutered, 2 are brothers and they absolutly love each other. the other two males dont love on each other but they will play together, so all in all, yeah, you shouldnt have a problem at all.

I have since changed my mind. The tabby male that we originally were going to keep went to live as a housecat with a family with six children. It is a really good home for him. Now I am keeping 1 male and 1 female that are littermates. They will be spayed/neutered at 4 months old. I named them Simba and Nala. Simba is a longhaired tabby male and Nala is a solid black shorthaired female.
