hello everyone well yesterday we went to warren pa and picked up my sharpei puppy and i know puppies are born with worms but she is pucking them up . i have the worm medicine and i just gave it to her and it is the same stuff that the vets give i buy it from the dr.fostersmith company you can also get the dogs shots to. well anyway is it normal for some dogs who have worms to puck them up.also can my daughter get them cause she is always playing with the pup.

I have never heard of an animal puking up worms, but my advice is to get her to a vet asap because worms are transferable. Make sure your daughter washes her hands real good after playing with the pup and I wouldn't let her near her faces (like to give kisses) until she's been seen by a vet! Good luck and keep me posted. I'd be curious to know the outcome of this.

That would be my advice too dutches!!! And I definately would not let any children be in contact with the puppy untill you get this solved. I absolutely love sharpeis!!!!!
Keep us posted as I am interested too in what the vet says.

My Puppy did the same thing. The very next day we brought him home. I feel that the shots are much better for the puppy's. Please bring him to the vets. Just to be safe.

Hi Dutches, I've never heard of puppies pucking up worms either. Just like everyone has already suggested, please bring your puppy to the vet ... and make sure your daughter does not play with the puppy until you find out more from the vet. Good luck and let us know what happens.

well we took her and got her dewormed and they said it is normal for them to puck if they have them bad enough .well she is a playfull little girl and we ended up naming her dutches. she likes to grunt like a pig.

I'm glad to hear that nothing "major" was wrong with Dutches ... just an overdose of worms. Anyway, I hope with the medicine that the vet gave her, she'll get rid of them soon.

What a cute name you picked for her.:)

Wow! She must have had them really bad! I'm glad to hear she will be alright. I like the name too! My neighbor had a black sharpei they named rasin. I thought it kinda fit!! lol

On a different post where you asked about a "biting cat" you also mentioned that this new puppy was playing with your other dog. Hopefully your vet gave you enough worm meds for both of them - as I think that more then likely the other dog could of caught them.

well yes we got enough for the other two dogs and as far as my daughter goes the vet said she should be fine because we didnt have the puppy long enough to pass them to her before getting her taking care of.well my pit teetee is starting to get an attitude towards the puppy but its because the puppy wont leave her nipples alone she is still wanting to nurse.well dutches is a cream color and she is fluffy but that is cause she is not purebred but you wouldnt know she wasnt if it wasnt for the long hair and she has the wrinkles on the face. my husband doesnt like sharpeis so he says she is so ugly that she is cute in her own way but i think she is adorable.well the people we got her off of said that the father was a purebred beagle and the mother was purebred sharpei but i dont see any beagle in any of the pups they all look like the mother .:cool

Hi, I am so glad to hear the news. My dog also had them that bad. But puppy's are not always born with them. only if the mother has them. the puppy's get them from the mothers milk. But its very good to hear the great news.
