Cats are like ppl, sometimes they will get something in their eye and it causes eye trouble. If this persists you may want to talk with your vet, but right now I wouldn't worry about it as long as it's fine again.

sounds like conjunctivitis .....Typical signs include squinting slightly in one eye, a noticeable increase in ocular discharge (usually brownish in color), redness of the conjunctivae, or all of the above.

What I would wash Murphys eye with is tepid tea...the tea is very soothing and helps with the infection...wipe eye inwards to outwards and never use the cotton wool twice....if he still has sore eye/eyes I would take him to the vet and they might have to give you a antibotic cream for it....please dont try and open his eye as this will hurt or can do some damage...

The best part is that it is okay.

Well, i would have your vet also check for an upper respiratory infection. One of the earliest sighs of a URI is eye goobers, so you may have to get some Vetrachloracin for his eyes, but you can also use a simple saline contact solution to rub over his eyes. Used it several times in my cats and it works like a charm.

One of my cats had the same thing. They just gave me a cream that I had to apply to his eye twice a day. He hated it, but it worked. It was gone within 2 days and never returned. I am glad he is ok

My youngest cat had that problem. I noticed it right before I went to bed very late one night. I'm the type of person who panicks. I grabbed her, and washed her eye with a soft washrag dipped in warm water. She resisted, and I thought in horror, "Oh god, she will loose her eye!"

The very next day I was up at 6AM (Way before any vet, even emergency ones would be open), and I went to take a look at her eye. It was completely normal! No fluid, redness, swelling, eye 'crusties'. Nothing!

I was so confused, but I made a vet appointment anyway. They couldn't find anything wrong with either of her eyes! To this day the vet, and I are confused about what could have happened. I finally asked if it could have been from playing too rough with her 'brother'. The vet said it was possible, but was puzzled as to why it cleared up so quickly, and no damage could be seen.
