Hi there!

Here's a tough question that no one seems to be able to answer for me: my cat Fuzzbucket is about 6 months old, and ever since she was a baby she would suck and knead on the inside of my arm. I assumed she had been weaned too early, and it was sort of cute when she was small. Now, however, her claws are bigger and it really hurts; my arms are always scatched and painful. She even does it while I'm sleeping. I try to make her stop, but nothing works...I can't wean her onto anthing else. Her sister Periwinkle is the same age has never done this, thank goodness....any ideas???

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the board! Kneeding and sucking is a sign of contentment. My cat does this to the dog bed so I don't have to worry about the claws hurting. I don't really know what to tell you other than maybe giving her her own blanket and when she starts to do this to you, put her on her blanket. Maybe eventually she'll start going there. They like to knead something soft. Not sall cats will knead so that could be why Periwinkle isn't doing it. Hopefully someone has had this problem and can give you better advice. Good luck, Sherry

Hi....Like too crazy said kneading is a sign of feeling loved and very happy. They do this to the momma cat to get her milk to start flowing. My cat is 11 years old and still does it but luckily for me it's usually on my lap so all I do is put a soft blanket "barrier" between us and everyone is happy. I have a wool rug that my cat will do this to so maybe something like that would work. Put it in her bed or where she naps.
Good Luck! Judy
