Today I had to euthanize my sweet Satin bunny. She had uterine cancer and the mammary cysts that go along with it, she soon would have been suffering, but I put her to rest before that happened. I got Satin over 6 years ago from the Earl May pet store. She was a tiny 2 month old bunny and the cutest creature anywhere. She lived a long happy life with me and I enjoyed every moment with her. She loved to roll things around such as a minature soccer ball, chew sticks, and any thing else she could use her nose to roll. Even until today she was very alert and active, she loved to cuddle into my neck and be held and petted. She licked me like a little dog. She liked to be held on her back like a baby as I scratched her tummy. She was the cutest, sweetest, friendliest rabbit I ever knew and she will never be forgotten.
She was just over 6 years old. She now is laid to rest in a sunny spot between two tree roots in front of a tree with two trunks and a branch going across them to almost form a double cross. At the bottom of her grave we laid some of her pine bedding and timothy hay she loved. Atop her grave is gravel intermixed with the snow it was frozen in. Around the grave I sprinkled more bedding and the remainder of her food for her many rabbit relatives in the wild so that they will come visit her grave. The tree that marks her grave has her name "Satin bunny" carved in it and then a chunk of wood atop the grave has a cross carved in it, tomorrow I'll be adding her birth to death dates. Oct 1999-Jan. 10 2006. I will always remember you Satin, forever, I will always love you. I will be posting some pictures and maybe one of the short videos of Satin as soon as I get them together. Thank you to all who helped me make my decision to put her to rest, it was the hardest decision I've ever made, but I know it was for the best. Here I think I have one pic of her and will get more posted. http://community.webshots.com/user/jerwolf
