Hi there everyone! I have three cockateils, all living together. 2 are male, and one is female. the female (Chesapeake) lays eggs, but I'm fairly positive they aren't fertilized... My 2 boys are more interested in each other than her. :o my question is... How long should I leave the eggs in the cage for? I know not to pull them, or she will just lay more, correct? but she sure is cranky with eggs in there...lol Thanks in advance! :)

Leave them there until she gets bored with them. Usually about 18-21 days from the last one. I have a chronic egg layer, she's sitting on 5 now. It's so frustrating as I try everything to stop her, even take her for monthly Lupron shots. Nothing seems to work, I worry so much about egg binding.
You may be surprised now and find out that your eggs are fertile, do you know how to candle?

Thanks for the reply Gina! Yes, I do know how to candle... and none of the eggs are fertilized... this isn't her first round of eggs since I've had her. I just don't want her to become eggbound, but she gets up and out quite a bit! :)
