Well, my cat Rowdy (5 or 6 months old) got sick a few days ago. He was lethargic, and vomiting. My older cat Toughy (year and a half) had just recentely been sick, and an over-night at the vet's office didn't reveal anything wrong. So, we asked the vet for the same medicine, as we though Rowdy had the same illness.
Well, this morning I found Rowdy dead in the cage we had been keeping him in to keep him away from the other cats. I'm not sure if the illness is what killed him, or if it was mites, because a look earlier that night revealed what my father thought were mites, and a lot of blood inside of his ear. Unfortunately, the vet's office was closed, and there was nothing we could do but just give him medicine and hope for the best
In any event, I have to consider my other cats now. I'm not entirely sure that the illness that Toughy had is the same thing, but I do know the only way Rowdy could've got mites is from Toughy, as Toughy is the only cat that goes outside. I've already steralized all of the food and water dishes, but now I just need some ideas of how to make sure the other cats don't get sick.
I have left over anitbiotics that I'm goign to use for Sofie, my other kitten about the same age as Rowdy was. I'm nervous, though, beacuse I don't want to kill any good bacteria if she's not sick, but I can't read cats very well, and don't want to wait until it's too late.
I've checked both cats for mites, and have gotten medicine for mites as well.
The vets office isn't open today, but I plan on calling tomorrow to ask them. But before then, I just wonder if there's anything you fine people could bring to my attention that I may've overlooked.
