little bump on eyelid

Hello,

I found out that there is a little red bump on Kiki's upper eyelid. He doesn't seem to be bother by that. I gave him benadryl.

I hope it's just a sting by some bug. :(

What else should I do beside monitoring him?

Sometimes a bump can be just a fat deposit and nothing to worry about.
If you can see it clear you might be able to see if a stinger or something is in the center. Watching him for swelling and things is good. but not much else unless something changes.

I would see if the Benedryl helps and definitely monitor it. Any lump or bump that pop up on my dogs I have the vet aspirate and check. Good thing too since the one lump Bullwinkle had under his eye was a benign tumor.

The lump is red and skin is kinda thinner - I meant it's just like when we get stung by something, that area become thinner because of the bump.

Today is the second that I gave KiKi benedryl - the size of the bump seems to reduce in size just a tiny bit. I think I will take him to see a Vet tomorrow.

kiki doesn't get bothered by the swelling, and it seems that it doesn't affect his vision at this point.

I agree. That almost looks like a bite or sting. Maybe it is a chalazion?? I am not positive if dogs get those or not. Still...you are doing the right thing. If it does not respond definitely have it checked. Good Luck and hope Kiki is better soon!!

Thanks for your reply. Yah, that's what I thought at first. I had chalazion when I was a kid. I think I better take him to the Vet without second thought.

an update on KiKi:

I took KiKi to the Vet this morning. There is a little lump inside his eyelid;the Vet said it might be a cyst, but it is hard to tell what it is right now. The Vet told me to keep KiKi on Benedryl and also apply some antibiotic (subscribed by the Vet) onto his eye for this week. KiKi will have a follow up this coming Saturday.

Glad that Kiki saw the vet! I'm also glad to hear that he wants to follow up. I am sure the Benedryl and other med will clear this up but if it does not you definitely want to find out exactly what that lump is. Like I said...Bullwinkle's eye lump ended up being a benign (Thank God!) tumor that had to be removed. I am sure Kiki will be just fine in a few days! Give him hugs from us!

the lump is still there. It is neither getting bigger nor smaller. However, the inside eyelid seems to be better - and that is a good sign. I am still very worried as I thought the lump would go away sooner. I don't think KiKi was stung by some insect.

I probably ask the Vet to run a test to make sure it is not a tumor.

Good news! The lump is getting smaller. It is no longer as red as it used to be. :)
