Hi, I am new to PetLovers. I have a 14 year old poodle, diagnosed with diabetes last May. It has been really hard handling the disease and I would appreciate any hints anyone might have that would help in her care. We had a terrible time giving her the twice daily injections with a needle. A couple of months ago we bought an AdvantaJet and after some problems trying to figure out the best site and pressure setting to give, we finally are able to use the jet consistently and CC (our poodle) only squirms a little now. We live in Jacksonville, Fl and have been taking CC to theme parks since she was born. It is hard now, as we are never sure she won't "crash" while we aren't with her. We did take her to Orlando last week and she spent one day at the vets and about 4 hours at the MGM Studio kennel the next day. Does anyone have a good tips for traveling with a diabetic pet. I will be happy to share things I have learned, if it will help anyone. CC is one of the family. I don't think she realizes she is a dog.

Diabetic Dog...
Hi there, and Welcome to this site! I wish that I had some advice for you regarding your dog, but unfortunately I have no experience with diabetes in dogs. Please don't be discouraged though. While I am a relatively new member here, the one thing I can say is that you have come to the right place for support and or advice. There are a lot of wonderful regulars here who post and answer people almost daily. Be patient and someone will answer. In the meantime, just keep loving your dog and enjoying her company. Wishing you well....Scouts Mom

Dear Scout's Mom, thank you for the hand holding. Sometimes that is what I need. We had such a terrible time initially since our vet gave us no instructions on how to give an insulin shot and our poodle is highly sensitive to pain. It was a nightmare. We have had a better time of it since using the needlefree injection system, although she still squirms. Thanks again for your reply. It is nice to meet other folks who love animals
