Not sure this belongs here but Last night I was flicking through the Channels and A priest was reading a letter and I heard him say someone wrote to ask do dogs go to heaven. Inside of me I was smiling of course they do. I couldn't believe it he said "No they dont go to heaven." His reasoning didnt really make sense to me and maybe I just wasn't hearing him right but to hear a priest say that just about breaks my heart. My feelings are dogs will be their way before people and thats all animals. He said something about them not having a soul and like I said Im in shock. I jus had to vent this. Ive always had my religous beliefs but never once questioned if my Dog is going to be in heaven. I believe in it and my dogs will be their will all the other ones. I dont know what to think anymore???????

Well if they are not in heaven, then I will just ask whoever greets me to point me to the "animal heaven" because that is where I want to be. I am sure there will be others like us there.

I am a Christian, but I think the Christian/Catholic religion is wrong about what they preach about animals. It's something I don't like about my fellow believers. Right in the bible it says:

The harmonious relationship between man and animals will be restored in the millennial kingdom.
(Isaiah 11:6-9)

God keeps record of every animal that has ever lived.
(Luke 12:6)

Animals came under the curse when man sinned, but will be freed from the curse through Christ.
(Romans 8:20-22; Colossians 1:20 and Acts 3:20)

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6)

Therefore, in my opinion and obviously the Bible's, animals will be accounted for, and will go to Heaven. Don't worry, you will see your pets again there.

I agree with you all! I want to be where my furbabies are. My pups say their little prayers at night and I bless them at night they stand on the foot of the bed and each one gets blessed and they give me a kiss.

I agree with the others here. Theres no doubt in my mind there's pet heaven and there just having fun & waiting for us.

I'm not Catholic. I think priest have more important things to worry about. Like cleaning up there act! Talk about not going to heaven!!

LOT'S of people believe that their pets do not go to heaven. I believe they do. My first cat of 14 years- I had him since I was 7, was-isso special to me, and I look forward to the day (I pray it is a loooong time away;) ) that I can cuddle with him again. He passed away 4 years ago and I still think about him all the time- I am sure his spirit is around and he didn't just vanish when it was his time to leave me.:(

I to believe they go to heaven. I also have heard they don't because they don't have a soul but God created animals and I just can't see heaven without them...except for spiders and snakes! Sorry to all who have spiders and snakes for pets. lol

i believe our pets will be in heaven with us, because they make us happy. heaven will be filled with our hearts desires, and animals are that for all of us here.

also, to those that believe the bible (not trying to offend anyone), jesus is going to be coming back on a white horse. obviously there are horses up there, so of course we know there must be other animals. and, when heaven comes down to earth and we reign here, the lion will lay down with the lamb. again, another animal reference. maybe ill eventually get to have a tiger buddy.:)

How can you look into an animals eyes and say they don't have souls? I belong to a Cowboy Church and we pray for our animals as well as other people. In fact, I even had a pastor offer to do a hands-on for my hubby's horse after it threw him. How could it have worked if animals don't have souls? I think that priest is a crack pot who was denied the joys of having a pet as a child.

I believe all animals go to Heaven and I truely hope they do, I just had to euthanize my sweet bunny today and I really want to see her again some day. I've also had other animals die and I don't see why God wouldn't let animals go to Heaven.

IMO: YES animals/ pets have souls. Do they go to heaven? I hope so! Are their souls the 'same' as ours? I don't really think so. Does that mean that their 'inferior'? Of course not!

I get annoyed when people bring up bible quotes whenever they want to say:
1. "You can treat an animal however you want."
2. "Animals don't have souls."

And all that other tosh. It's just rediculous.
