Do dogs get a virus like kids do? You know, the throwing up, a bit of runny poo, that kind of thing? Lucy has been fine all day. DH came home from work and we went through the drive through at KFC to get something to eat. DH bought Lucy some chicken strips. She wouldn't eat them and we thought that was a bit strange because usually, she will be sitting right there, staring a hole through you, wanting part of what you have! We just chalked it up to the fact that she had eaten her kibble a bit before he came home and she probably wasn't hungry. We were on our way home and she threw up twice in the van! It was a huge amount too and I can't believe she ate that much today. She had some wet food this morning, and then like I said, her kibble this afternoon. I hadn't given her anything extra today at all, so I was wondering if maybe it could be the same thing as when we humans pick up a virus somewhere. When she came home, DH walked her and then brought her inside to her crate. She drank quite a bit of water and is now laying asleep. He said when he walked her, her poo was a little runny. Do dogs just sometimes do this? I've honestly never been this concerned with a dog before so a lot of this is all new to me!

Yes dogs can get everything we can get, she i sprobably feeling under the weather. But you probably need to call your vet anyway you don't want her to become dehydrated. keep us posted..

Lucy seems a bit better this morning. She didn't throw up any more and her potty habits are normal. She did eat a few bits of her kibble this morning and I haven't offered her any wet food. It does seem that the last few times she has had the wet food, she didn't really want it, but when I told her to eat, she ate it anyway. That could be the problem. It isn't agreeing with her in some way. I may boil her a bit of chicken here in a bit and see if she is interested in that. I'm trying to take my cues from her on this about her eating. Maybe I'll fix her an egg and see how that goes first.

I hope she feels better soon. Do you think maybe she is put out because of the new addition? Maybe she is jealous. Just a thought.

Robyn,
Keep a close eye on her and I would call the vet anyway...just to be on the safe side. Food is not important....it is water that is important to keep her hydrated. Does she feel warm at all? She may just have a "bug" that will go away but I know you will be careful. Hugs to Lucy!! :)

She is drinking water fine. She always reminds me of a horse when she drinks water! Loud and noisey! LOL! She has always drunk a LOT of water since we've had her. She's very messy with it too. It gets all over the floor, all over her and manages to be sprayed on whoever happens to be standing close when she is drinking! :o I did fix her an egg and she ate a little bit of it. I didn't push her to eat any more. I had given her just a small portion of her dry food this morning and she has eaten that with no problems. She didn't eat it all at once, but in bites here and there. I think she just had a bug maybe.
