I'm in the process of training and taming my new lovebird and was wondering what kind of treats others give their lovebirds. I want to find something she'll really like and is special for training sessions. What are your lovebirds' favorites?

My two lovies came from petsmart, and were very untamed...at the store, they netted my birds, and threw them in a box.. and that really did scare them...
after I took them home, I gave them each like two weeks just to get settled down...
and how I trained both of my lovies, is through the unconditional love method.
I first tried everything, but my lovies were so scared, and would run away from me...,and boy, those little legs could move fast!
You should have seen me...crawling around my hands and knees with a towel, trying to bring my little brats back! lol
One night, i heard PP bird fall off her perch...I grabbed her, which was easy in the dark, wrapped her up in my robe, and held her close to my heart, and sang softly to her, until she fell asleep... I did htis twice with her..
After that? she was so cute and lovable, that she would wiliingly climb into my shirt every time..
I was never able to teach her the 'step up" commnd though...lol. you should have seen her.. at first, she just sat there while i proded her chest to step up.. then when she was P/O, she would bite the crap out of me.. lol
I then used a perch to try to teach her, and she would attack the stick like it was the big bad wolf!
I then made her a little perch to stand on during training..and she would either try to jump on me, crawl in my shirt and fall asleep, or if I woulnt let her.... just fell asleep on the perch...
Nonetheless, despite not knowing to step up on command, PP would always wait for me to pick her up, or if I take too long, just climbed on my pant legs for a free ride...
Lily? I did the same for her... surprisingly, she would step up, but not on fingers..she hates hands... but on you rarm, no problem... However, she was never cuddly like PP bird was...
I guess all birds have their own personality..
So good luck with training yours! And let us know if you need any help!

That's so sweet that your lovebirds were soothed by your singing. Your lovebirds sort of remind me of my parrotlet. He doesn't especially like hands either. He will eventually sit on my finger and step up after some struggle of getting him out of his cage but he much rather prefers to jump off my finger to my chest and wander up to snuggle in my hair. It's the only place he will behave. Haha.
Anyway so far my new lovebird has been great. She steps up really well. The only difficult part is getting her out of the cage. She gets a little frightened of my hand but eventually will get on my finger and then she seems perfectly content. Yesterday she also let me pet her a lot and ate some food from my hand. For some strange reason she doesn't eat sunflower seeds but I'll try the millet like you suggested.

My lovebird likes these seeds that come from a stem. It's kinda like a rasberry-looking, although the berry is the seed. It's very easy to take the shell off for baby lovebirds.

My lovebirds seem to love millet spray the best

That's called Millet. ^^
Seed I think is the best treat. Sunflower seeds work well because they absolutely love them (except for the weirdos like Oliver!) and you can use them one at a time.
