Can stasis ever be caused by the rabbit chewing on clean soft wood? I just lost a 7 year old bun from stasis. He never had wood until about 2 weeks before he got sick. Was it my fault? :( Maybe he was too old to handler the change?

David, I am so sorry for your loss.:( Rabbits will chew on lots of things, but to ingest enough to cause stasis is really a guess at this point if a necropsy was not done. Hairballs (like in cats), high carbs-low indegstible fiber can cause it too. Again, I am very sorry to hear about your loss.
