i have a lovebird too. they're awesome little critters.
as for breeding,it usualy isn't wiseto do it unless u have an experienced breederto help u out the first few times. secondly, they need to eat pellets, the sizes for budgie/cockatiels is good. seed is an awesome treat, but not good for everday (like you wouldn't eat chocolate every day).
and since they're already laying eggs, i'd get them examined. laying an egg is exhausting business and draining on the body.especially since they don't have alot of calcum to begin with and now they are putting it all into eggshells =\.
anywho, congrats on your love birds and good luck with those little rascals. they can be a handful... LOL

Hi Welcome. I have a Quaker. Little different from Lovies. I have no experience with breeding. I know it is difficult with the handfeeding and such. There is a way to deter from laying eggs. It has something to do with altering daylight hours-not sure. There are some members here who have experience.
I know Lovies enjoy fresh fruits and veg along with a pellet diet. I give Pepe Zupreem Avian Maintenance fruitblend flavor for Cockatiels at all times. She gets seed as treats. I also give her a variety of veg and fruit during the day. No salt or fake sugar. Some starches, pasta, potatoes, whole grain bread.
I know they have to have 10 to 12 hours of undisturbed sleep. Lovies like happy huts or to be covered. Pepe goes to bed at 8 and gets up around 8. I know she messes around in the morn before coming out so she gets probably 10 hours. If your house is noisy at night some suggest a well ventilated walk in closet or the like.
I think one of the best rules of thumb for new bird owners is routine. Doing the same things everyday makes them more comfortable and stable. Feeding, bathing, bedtimes, and interaction at designated times helps keep them from developing neurosis. I hope someone here can help you with breeding. Good luck and congrats with your new birdies.
