Help!

My dad just called he spoke with his friend thier cat a pursian had kittens saturday. 3 of them and one of the kitten had died and the others arent eating and the mother is very weak. I told them take the Cat and kittens to the vet immediately. They are suppose to be doing that. Anything else they should be doing? SO sad. Any advice incase these people end up not going. If I could I would take them myself!

The vet is the best vet and mama may have bad milk due to an infection and may be passing it to the kittens. Have them get some formula and take the kitties temps

I hope they follow through and go to the vet

Thanks so much Patch. I just told my dad he is calling them and telling them exactly what you said. It makes sense what you wrote. I cant understand why when the first one died they didnt rush to the vet. It's a long storey but this person needs to learn how to care for her animals. STuff happens but you go to the vet! Thanks for responding to me. I will keep you updated.

HI! Dad just called back his friend says the kittens are eating the mother is not eating. I told him either way tell them get to the vet. If one kitten died and moms not eating the kittens are going to have to be put on formula. These people are asking when can they feed them cat food. They were bron on Saturday> I am ready to pull my hair out.. They better go to the vet!
Sorry I am so annoyed at these people.

Only 3 kittens? They might want to get the vet to also check if there may be one blocking the birth canal or possibly a mummified kitten still in there. Im sure that would probably make momma not want to eat.

Oh my thats horrible, he says she is going to emergency vet care by her now.Will let you know what happens..

Oh my! I hope the momma is going to be ok, it's apparent these people don't know what to do, are they sure all the afterbirth ect... came out?

Im sure that would probably make momma not want to eat. That is what I'm afraid of or a retained placenta both which would cause major infection in the mama cat if not handled and also poor quality milk.

The mama if it is her first time also may not want to leave the babies to eat. Have they tried hand feeding her or bringing it to her whelping area at least.

Hi! Thanks for all your help! Momma and babies are safe at vets. She did not have anymore baies in her from what I was told. These people arent the swiftest when it comes to their Cat so I am waiting to find out what the problem is. Vet thinks kitties are doing ok and that Momma is week. Thinks maybe infection of some sorts like you guys suggested. They think the other kitty that died might have been still bron they dont know. Anyway they are holding them all till they have all the lab test done. In the mean time I am trying to find out what the plans for these kitties are. Cause my vet runs a Cat adoption. nonprofit but these guys are great with the cats its their life. So if these people cant manage handeling the kittens I am going to have them relocated to my vet. My Nicky had major complications when he was born with his breathing. My brothers two dogs had him, so thats another reason I adopted him from them, because you never know the long term affects of difficulties at birth or after birth. Thats why I would like to get these kittens safe. Hopefully all will be well. Will keep you posted.
