severe heart murmur

brought out chihuahua home 2 months ago - advised by our vet that Squeak's heart is almost 3 times the size it should be. any advice ?????????

I'm so sorry to hear about Squeaks. What does the vet advise you to do?. Can meds help?. You might want to get a second opinion, it sounds pretty severe to be almost 3 times the size. I've never had this problem, sorry I cant help. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Had a dog, Cocker of course that had the same thing and it cost me a lot to find it out. After finding it out they put him on some meds to help.

How old is the dog ? The older they are the more app they are to have an enlarged heart.

The Cocker did live for 3-4 more years and died of cancer.

Janan, I hope they can do something for the little Squeaker. Where did you get him? Were you informed about his condition?

Sorry to hear about Squeak's condition, but at least the vet found out right away. Has he given meds for Squeak? Also, did you just get him from the pet store or breeder? Have you informed them of his heart condition? Well, please let us know how things go with him, ok?
