Oh, no- they're not the ones I was thinking were in BirdTalk. At a bird store here, there's two birds that looked similar to that. It was over two months since I've went so I don't remember exactly what they were, so I doubt that they were King parrots but they could have been. The two werent' for sale and were set up for breeding, so who knows. Wow- I can't imagine looking out the window and seeing a few of those! Ahhhhhhh... :)

.....I love these birds. Unfortunately it is almost impossible to find these in the U.S.

They are found commonly in flocks in Australia. Unbelievably, they are considered pests by farmers. They were first discovered by Lictenstein in 1818 which in the bird world is like yesterday.

Imagine walking along forrests or farmland and seeing huge flocks of these gorgeous birds.....I read they are as common as pigeons are here.

Another fact....the male is mainly that striking red color and the female's head and back are green with a red belly.

I didn't think I read about these in Bird Talk. I was doing my usual internet bird research and stumbled upon these kings.

Anyway, thanks a bunch.:D

Wow, how awsome they look. I think I am in love with them! Famars also consider Senegal's a pest! They eat all the fruits and things. But That would be so weired to see one in my back yard! Like Jenny said.

Mark and Bambi Fox
Fox's Feather Farm
www.foxfeatherfarm.com

They are probably the only breeders here.

Take a look at their site....very interesting.;)

They most likely only sell the babies to other breeders (hopefully, at least!), so that's why they didn't post the price or anything. Also, I bet they only have one or two pairs. They probably cost quite a bit! I was curious though to see about how much one cost...
