Hi everyone,
I need some advice, I am having a problem with ants in the dog food bowl. Does anyone know of any special food bowls or anything natural that I can place around the bowl to keep the ants out?
Help, I'm desperate!

Hi luvbugg03 and welcome to the board :)
If you free feed your dogs, you might want to consider only feeding them twice a day and put the food bowls up when not in use. I have an ant problem also, even with a pest control company that sprays every 3 months. I dont know of any bowls or natural stuff that will help.... ants are resilient little buggers that sometimes live through the pesticides. I've even considered getting an ant eater as a pet LOL. Good luck and please let me know if you find anything to help :)

Maybe put the food bowl in a shallow tray of water? Ants won't cross water, I don't think.

Have you tried putting ant traps in an inconspicuous place where the dogs won't get to them.
I found ant traps to be very effective and they aren't harmful to animals, unless of course they eat the trap. The ants enter the traps, take the bait and go back to the nest with it and it eventually kills the whole colony. It's much much better than toxic sprays, etc.
Try putting the traps under a mat near a door or under something else the dog won't get to. Placing them outside around the foundation is also effective.
I hope you find this useful.
