I just got back from the hospital and wanted to show everyone how incredibly great Bullwinkle is doing! This morning when I visited he couldn't stand or walk on his own and had two I.V's (detached when I came) in his right leg. When I came tonight he walked to me with very little assistance and stood for our whole visit! The I.V.s have been removed also. I am so pleased with his progress! I can't believe his surgery was only yesterday and he is up walking and standing tonight! No crying or screaming either!!!
Here's my boy standing on his own.

This is the incision. I measured it tonight and it is 10" long and looks like it is healing beautifully!

Thanks Therese!
I had to wait an extra week to get him in to Dr. Trevor but it was worth it!! He is supposed to be the BEST orthopedic surgeon in the state and he practices at VRCC hospital (Veterinary Referral & Critical Care). He has so many letters after his name it is incredible and he has an amazing bedside manner which I love.
Recommended stay after spinal sugery such as Bullwinkle's is 3 - 7 days. In Bullwinkle's case I definitely have to keep him hospitalized until he is mobile on his own since I live alone and cannot carry him in anyway. Dr. Trevor will evaluate him on Monday and he may be able to come home then. I do know that hydro therapy is recommended for spinal surgery patients because it helps build muscle back without putting any pressure on the joints. There is a brand new place about 20 miles form my house that does this sort of therapy. They have 4 pools and 3 whirlpools. I am going to follow anything Dr. trevor tells me to. He is a GOD to me now! :)

Thanks for posting a picture of Bullwinkle looking so much better and showing that he is on the mend. I bet he is wondering where all the pain went. Great that he was even able to walk over to you today! He is a trooper. I'm so happy for you all!

Big hugs for Dr. Trevor, and double big hugs for Bullwinkle. The power of prayer, positive vibes, and one awesome Mommy is what Bullwinkle needed!!
